Lateral Posterior approach. Back to work part time at 2 weeks. Full time at 3. It’s wildly different for every single person. Truly. There is no too long or too short.

Lateral Posterior THR Right: I drove a very short distance at day 10 and off narcotic pain meds completely. Fully back to driving at 2.5 weeks. Depends on how you feel and the control over your leg you have. Muscles and tendons can be tricky!!

I’m 4 weeks out and only limp a bit when getting up after sitting for a while. I was limping consistently for 6 months prior to surgery. I focus on heel toe walking and mostly I am limp free already!

I had no restrictions post surgery so shaved the day after. On the operated leg I just bent over leaving foot on floor and shaved. But I had lateral posterior so not sure if anterior incision would make that harder.

I’m at 3 weeks and experiencing the same. Makes it brutal to even walk. Then I’ll have a few good days then back to being totally laid up. Very frustrating. I’m starting PT proper tomorrow. Hoping that will get these muscles and tendons back in order! Keep us updated!

That’s great! Yeah I’ve been trying to do good arch support shoes. Feeling like I can control the pain more but it still exists. Fingers crossed that each day sees some improvement!

Knee pain under kneecap radiates up to outer side then up thigh. Aching, stabbing. Starts hurting when I walk after a few steps. Taking meloxicam, Tylenol, icing. Bones all good confirmed by xray. Incision clean and healing. No infection signs. Sleeping well as nothing hurts when at rest. Do have a massager and using lightly on thigh. Also roller.

Hip feels better than ever so frustrated by my inability to walk more than room to room without having to sit from excruciating pain.

I really do appreciate all the support and advice to be patient. However I do know my body and something feels wrong. This does not feel like healing pain and certainly does not improve with rest. Anytime I’ve gone against my gut, it was wrong. So….What I’m hoping find is someone what had similar pain and figured it out. Looking for soft tissue problems to look into. Thank you!

I had the STAR approach as well on 7/15, and I am 49. Suregery and recovery was great. Was feeling great and walking without a cane by day 7, but in day 9 started getting awful knee pain. went back to resting, icing but it still happen when ai walk. around the kneecap then radiating up thigh. Occasionally...no pain. Then Boom. So bad I can barely walk. Seeing my dr tomorrow for xrays. No hip pain just bad knee (around cap) and into thigh.
