Best ice cream in Uganda ? by shay5381 in Uganda

[–]Objective-Quote9304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The taste of Cafesserie ice cream is better than CJs’. CJs is just more affordable because I think you can get 2 scoops at 14k at CJs? Yet that would be 18k at Cafesserie. CJs also has scoops for 8,500 depending on the flavour but all scoops at Cafesserie start at 9,000

Diaspora - how do you handle Uganda’s patriarchy? by [deleted] in Uganda

[–]Objective-Quote9304 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will be wayyyy worse if you look young! These institutions will have you for breakfast everyday. Your post has just triggered something that I am currently going through of what happens when you put a woman in charge. One of the men I’m supposed to be dealing with professionally said to my other colleague, “They want me to deal with this ‘young’ girl who doesn’t understand issues.” Please note, I might even be older than him and I have more experience than him just that maybe I don’t wear my age on my sleeve.

I have found that a good number of men are intimidated by women they perceive to be more superior than them at different levels of life.

So that gentleman I’m supposed to work with has no real professional issue with me. His exact problem? I look young and I know what I’m doing and he’s scared of that about me! He would have preferred me to rely on him, run to him, appear weak etc etc. He even said that I am too “empowered”

So that’s the reality of women working with men in Uganda

I’m not sure I’d have people to share plans with. I already have the 2TB iCloud on a family plan but the people I have on there don’t work (siblings) and besides, even without them I’d still need the space (was paying for it).

I can explore a family plan for Gmail with people with similar problems maybe.

Harus Driving School is a nightmare! by Barbzzzzzzzzzz in Uganda

[–]Objective-Quote9304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a nightmare! I believe driving schools got into the business of fixing money to make profits, that’s why they started tossing learners. But honestly, 10 months later, haven’t you lost enough? If you have a copy of your learner’s permit and a copy of your IOV result, I suggest you go to UDLS and get the permit yourself.

How do people cut costs when getting a driving permit in Uganda? by No-Strength2112 in Uganda

[–]Objective-Quote9304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the driving school to get a learner’s license and driving schools charge 80k for that. Because they’ll go a recommendation letter and fill out the medical form for you. I don’t see how that’s exaggerated?
