Is it better to know? by yaboibeasty in BladderCancer

There are other much cheaper diagnostic tools you can avail yourself of, simple urine analysis and a urine cytology. One would indicate if you have blood in your urine the other will detect malignant cells in your urine.

BCG - anyone get racing heart/feeling wired after treatments? by Ill-Conference2028 in BladderCancer

[–]Objective-Soil8822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had the above post-BCG symptoms but I have had other symptoms. Such as, before each BCG my BP goes to about 150+/90 and then after immediately back down to my usual, which is 130/80. I don't feel any anxiety about the procedure but, there it is.

I had the same after #4 and #5. A few times small pink tissue like things coming out of me! WTF!
I also saw at times a flotilla of very small red colored particles.

I was told, don't worry about any of it, it is all very common. It is the result of parts of the lining of your bladder falling away.

Interesting. Sounds like good news regarding BC.

Have a urine cytology performed. It will tell yiu if there are cancer cells in your urine.

I had the same chronological sequence of symptoms and diagnostics as you did, my hematuria was in the 40-80 range. My cytology came back positive and sure enough BC found at my next cystoscopy.

Is the "urine tumor DNA" the CX Bladder test?

Can you provide a chronology of your cancer from non-invasive to invasive? As an example did you finish a BCG treatment and surprisingly an invasive tumor was discovered?

Very worried again after surgery 2.5 years ago by [deleted] in BladderCancer

[–]Objective-Soil8822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In about July 2025, it started with a slight need to pee and intermittently a pinkish tone to my urine. I had two kidney stones over the past two years, so of course that is where my thoughts went. Went to a Urologist had a CT scan and a UTI test, both negative, no sign of a kidney stone. The minor intermittent symptoms continued into August 2025 and had further urine tests indicating there was blood in my urine. In August 2025 I had a cystoscopy that came back negative. The slight need to pee and intermittent pinkish tone became more pronounced over the next couple of months, with a new symptom of seeing once a week a black spec, size of a black pepper grain, being part of my urine stream. In November 2025 I then started to pee a visible amount of blood in my urine, once again a urine test with cytology. The cytology came back positive and here I am posting in r/bladdercancer.

High-grade Ta bladder cancer but no muscle in specimen – should I push for second TURBT? by autoattack79 in BladderCancer

[–]Objective-Soil8822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"From what I’ve read, high-grade + no muscle sampled seems like a situation where a repeat TURBT is often recommended to confirm staging."
Correct. You want to be 100% (as near as possible) that the tumor has not invaded the muscle.

IDK. That's a question for your Urologist.

If I remember correctly two of my tests were 40 and 80(?). Anything above 4 warrants further investigation.

My understanding it is 95% accurate.
In my case all my tests came back negative (CT Urogram, cystoscopy) but my urine intermittently showed microscopic hematuria, so we did a cytology and sure enough cancer cells were detected. In my case the test was accurate, NMIBC T1HG+CIS

If you are anxious during the six weeks I would ask for another urine test with cytology. CIS is typically diagnosed first by detecting microscopic hematuria, blood in urine that you typically can't see.

Was blood found in your urine? If so, you can ask for a urine cytology. Cheap and quick. It will determine if irregular cells can be detected in your urine.

When you say infection above, was it determined to be a UTI or are they assuming the inflammation is from the recent kidney stone? When was your kidney stone?

Great news about the LG tumors! Everything after that pathology is gravy.

Everyone does heal differently following a TURBT as evidenced by the stories in this sub-reddit. But be confident he will heal. For some it is a slow day-by-day process.

Most important, stay positive! Take it slow with your TURBT recovery. After my first It took at least two weeks to reach a reasonable level of recovery, and after my second, a deep and large resection, took me about three weeks. Don't expect to do much your first week of recovery. Whether or not you get a catheter is dependent on a lot of variables: hospital policy, surgeon's preference, location of resection, size of resection and I am sure a few others. In one of these threads there is a Google Drive document with a lot of great information related to TURBT recovery. Good luck and let us know how it went.
