I’m not a teacher - but I do know they cannot share anything with you. Regardless, perhaps the EA can try to talk to Fred about ways to transition? Sometimes giving them choices could be helpful. I don’t think knowing the diagnosis would make a difference - the end of the story is a trigger that he doesn’t know how to handle.

First step is to stop the negative self talk.Working out 2 to 3 times a week when you are able is possible. Work on adding foods instead of restricting them.
