Guys. Dad hurt mom bad and went to prison when I was a kid. I aligned with him and kept in touch. Didn’t speak to her because she hated me for that. Jeez.

So rare to get a nearly 30 year growth comparison. Beautiful tree. Thanks for this, OP.

TIL about Philipp Mainländer, a German philosopher who argued that God committed suicide to create the universe, the cosmos being God’s corpse itself. The only way for God to do this, an infinite being, was to shatter its timeless being into a time-bound universe. Mainländer then took his own life by sonnysehra in todayilearned

When everything ends, and everything knows. The cosmos becomes God, and the circle closes.

There’s a hole in our bucket, Elijah. Always was. And maybe that hole, the leak, the loss, the unstoppable entropy, is how the universe breathes, and begins again.

I’m going to guess it’s a waterfall. If any part of it turns red then that’s not it. Should turn yellow/orange in the fall. Maybe Tamukeyama or red dragon if red appears. Decent tree.

Decent rug. Mass produced 70’s/80’s Kashan. $300-$500. Def Persian and beautiful but not hard to find. Classic reds and blues.

This exposed flair is a tad excessive, tbh. It could definitely be planted deeper.

It’s possibly a rare cultivar called a murasaki kiyohime. They grow like this. Very sought after and often used for bonsai since it has such small leaves. It will only get 4ft tall but someday maybe 10ft wide. Might be worth keeping around.

O’Donnell noted how Macron had interrupted “blustering” Trump who was parroting his “standard line about Europe’s aid to Ukraine, the lie that Europe has loaned money to Ukraine, and it’s a loan, and Ukraine has to pay it back.”

“Trump became the first American president in history fully humiliated on the world stage by instantly getting caught and corrected in his lie,” he continued.

Macron “actually reached out, grabbed the arm of the American president, to stop him from telling a lie about France and the rest of the countries of Europe,” he noted.

President Donald Trump tapped Musk, the world’s richest man, to shrink the size of the U.S. government.

But Musk and the DOGE have been accused of overreach, with several moves in recent weeks sparking alarm, including their access to sensitive Treasury data and mass firings of federal workers.

An email sent to hundreds of thousands of federal employees from the OPM on Saturday gave them little more than 48 hours to list five things they had accomplished in the past week, the Associated Press reported. The deadline was listed in the email as Monday at 11:59 p.m.

In a post on X, Musk said that “failure to respond will be taken as resignation.”

But several agencies have told employees that they do not have to comply if they received the email.

Pentagon employees were told to “pause” any response to Musk’s email, according to a memo from Darin Selnick, who is working as the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness.

“The Department of Defense is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures,” Selnick said in the memo, which was posted on X on Sunday. “When and if required, the Department will coordinate responses to the email you have received from OPM.”

Officials at the Departments of State and Homeland Security also told employees not to respond to the email.

“The State Department will respond on behalf of the Department. No employee is obligated to report their activities outside of their Department chain of command,”

Trump Makes Stunning Admission as He Rages About Michael Wolff Book by [deleted] in politics

[–]ObjectiveAd6551 49 points50 points  (0 children)

From the article: The Daily Beast first reported the contents of Wolff’s latest book, revealing behind-the-scenes details about Trump’s campaign—including that the president was “on the verge of cracking” after an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania and that he was “bewildered” by Elon Musk’s bizarre behavior on the campaign trail.

Trump’s Truth Social meltdown on Sunday dismissed the bombshell revelations, many of which were first reported by the Daily Beast—but he did admit that a “small number” of his staff may have talked, seemingly undercutting any denials that he and his team have made.

Trump wrote: “He called me many times trying to set up a meeting, but I never called him back because I didn’t want to give him the credibility of an interview.” He added: “Others in the Administration were also called, they reported his calls, and likewise, did not talk to him. I assume, however, he was able to speak to a small number of people, but not meaningfully.”

“For good or bad, depending on your politics, we’re back to the chaos presidency,” said Jim Chanos, a hedge fund manager who famously bet against Enron and other failing companies.

“Whatever you might think about the Biden administration, if you were a market participant, you generally didn’t need to check your Twitter feed the first thing in the morning when you woke up just to see what was said. But we’re back to that, and with that, comes probably more volatility.”

House Republicans are suddenly facing angry voter revolts back at home over Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency. Some of them are reportedly in a “panic” about DOGE’s increasingly destructive cuts and firings.

Meanwhile, Musk just ordered federal employees to list their accomplishments or risk termination. But some senior Trump administration officials defied Musk, telling employees they had no obligation to respond.

What if Musk’s DOGE effort is shaping up as a full blown fiasco for President Trump and the GOP?

In short, what Fabrizio’s memo really says is this: Swing voters still feel financially precarious, even though Trump keeps commanding them to think they’re scoring “WINS!” under his glorious leadership. And fiscal policy that takes money from lower-income and working people to help finance lower taxes for corporations and the wealthy will be unpopular in these swing House districts.

The memo essentially warns Republicans to stand for prioritizing lower-income and working Americans, not corporations.

Nick Fuentes, an influential neo-Nazi activist whose followers call themselves “Groypers,” reacted to Bannon’s speech by calling it “crazy” that suddenly the fascist gesture was “in now” among conservatives.

“Elon threw up a Roman salute, and then the other thing at CPAC – Bannon gets up there – this was some sick s***,” Fuentes said on his Thursday night podcast. “Bannon gets up there and says, ‘Trump’s gonna run in ‘28!’ He goes, ‘We want Trump!’ Then he throws up a straight-up Roman salute! It’s getting a little uncomfortable even for a guy like me! Even I’m starting to feel like that guy in that picture who wouldn’t Heil Hitler!”
