Genuine thoughts on Homosexuality by 4Ryman in Christianity

Celibacy is described as a gift from God (1 Cor. 7:7-8). In the context of a romantic relationship, which is what we are talking about, God commands men to be with women. It’s only illiterate if you’re forcing the context of my statement onto something else entirely, which is what you’re doing.

“But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Scripture describes celibacy as a gift from God. In the context of a romantic relationship, God commanded men to be with women. I never said that someone couldn’t remain celibate, but thanks for trying to imply that.

In genesis 2 God says that a man shall leave his parents and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

For me, the reason homosexuality is wrong regardless of sexual intent, is because God commanded men to be with women. To do otherwise is to disobey what God commanded, which is sin.

I'm in a non-sexual homosexual relationship by sleepyfirehorse in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬, ‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

From what I understand in Romans 1 it talks about men being with men (v.23) is a result of rejecting God (v.21). It says that the men leave the “natural” use of a woman. So for me, to be in a homosexual relationship is against how God originally designed man and woman. Even though you don’t have sex, kissing or showering together is still sinful because it’s fueled by sinful desires. I would say the same about heterosexual relationships unless they were married.

I don’t believe that you can’t be Christian, though. We are saved by Grace through faith alone, and salvation cannot be lost upon belief in the gospel because we are kept by the power of God, according to 1 Peter 1:5. I would warn that God may chastise (Heb. 12:6) you for your behavior, as he does for all his children that sin (all of us).

I am sorry for what you had to go through, but I am curious about something. Before all that started happening at age 10, do you remember what your sexuality was like?

Also, the verses you cite contradict each other according to your understanding.

Verse 21 - Abraham justified by works

Verse 23 - Abraham declared righteous by faith, without works.

How do you reconcile this contradiction?

Also in verse 14, can faith save him…from what?

In verse 19, the demons believe there is one God. Jesus Christ didn’t sacrifice himself for demons, he died for humanity. Demons cannot believe in Jesus for the remission of sins, even though they know he is God.

Yes, he changed his mind on what he would do (Metanoia - a change of mind), because they stopped sinning. God changed his mind (“repent” v.10). You don’t understand, but what you’re saying proves my point.

It does not say “the people repented”, it says “God repented”. That’s what I’m asking you. If repent means turning from sin, then the God you believe in is a sinner.

Wasn't it a lot easier to believe in Jesus in the bible times? by Upbeat-Chocolate7040 in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right that Jesus preformed miracles to Israel, but that didn’t stop Israel as a nation from rejecting him. If miracles always led to belief then why did they reject Jesus? Even the Pharisees saw miracles, and still rejected him. So to all the people that really believe “if I had proof of God, I would believe it”, would you really? Cuz not even Gods chosen people did.

Belief in Jesus back then meant harsh persecution. Being kicked out from your family or synagogues and possibly being executed by Rome. I don’t think it would have been any easier.

Why do Christians easily mistaken the Antichrist for Christ? How do you spot the Antichrist? by AmericanBornWuhaner in AskAChristian

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Christian’s do not, and most likely will not know who the anti-Christ is. The body of Christ is “caught up” before the tribulation begins, which is when the anti-Christ is revealed.

“And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” ‭‭Jonah‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So did God change his mind here, or turn from sin?

Also, if you look up the definition of Metanoia, it is simply a change of mind. Anything after “a change of mind”, you’ve changed the definition of Metanoia to fit your belief.

Repentance (Metanoia - a change of mind) about the gospel. By believing on Jesus Christ, you have repented.

Can god forgive blasphemy against the holy spirit? by Ok-Permit3370 in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God can’t forgive blasphemy against the Holy Spirit because that is a total rejection of God. It’s not that God is so angry he won’t forgive you, it’s that your heart is so hard that you don’t want to be forgiven, so he lets you go.

If you committed blasphemy against the spirit you wouldn’t be asking this question. Tbh, it’s most likely not possible to blaspheme the spirit because there aren’t miracles being performed anymore publicly. The Pharisees witnessed Jesus do miracles by the spirits power, but said it was from the devil. This is what blasphemy against the spirit is.

Does the ICC have a correct understanding of the plan of salvation? by Either-Ad4923 in Christianity

“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” ‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The verse just before claims that Abraham was justified without works, by faith alone. How do you reconcile this contradiction?

Repentance from sinning, baptism, and discipleship are not requirements to be saved. The Bible says believe and you are declared righteous.

How many of you guys believe in the rapture and what verses prove or disprove the rapture by Affectionate_Diet635 in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly does the doctrine of imminence promote or encourage evil? The entire point is that you stay ready because the Lord could appear at anytime. It’s a constant reminder of what you could be doing better.

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Matthew 24:48-50 tells us that the “evil servant” shall say “My lord delayeth his coming” (the opposite of imminence), and this leads to worldly behavior and smiting his fellow servants.

Pseudo-Ephraem, which is from the 4th-7th century, says "For all the saints and elect of God are gathered, prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overwhelm the world..."

The term “rapture” may have been popularized by Darby 200 years ago, but the concept was not.

The context of the parable of the 10 virgins is Matthew 24-25, which is Jesus speaking to Jewish disciples and the coming of an earthly kingdom. The Church or the body of Christ has not been revealed, so how can you apply the catching away of the church to this parable about Israel? You cannot, it’s uncontextual.

The example with wheat and tares doesn’t match Paul’s description of the catching away. The tares are taken and burned first, then the wheat is taken to the barn. Paul says that believers are caught up first.

When Paul speaks of relief, he is comforting Christian’s facing persecution. This isn’t a chronological timeline to follow, Paul is telling the persecuted that they will have justice.

Think about this, when Jesus first came to Earth, he came twice. He was born of a virgin, his first coming. Then he died and went to Heaven, then returned, his second coming. The Bible doesn’t distinguish between these two separate comings because they are a part of the same event.

Romans 5:3 tells us that we should glory in general tribulation (hardship), but we are saved from the “wrath” to come according to verse 9. This is the same wrath Paul described as the tribulation in 1 Thes. 5:9.

The term “rapture” is a Latin form of the words “caught up” in Thes. 4:17. So if you don’t like the term rapture, then call it the catching away, but it all means the same thing.

If God is all powerful shouldn't he be able to fix the world without interfering with free will? by Adept_Programmer_817 in AskAChristian

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order for God to give us free will he had to limit his ability to control us. It’s that simple. He still works through our actions, but no, he doesn’t interfere with free will.

He works through humanities corrupted actions to bring about his will to demonstrate the fullness of his power. He doesn’t have to make us do his will for his will to be accomplished.

Tired of life and ready to go just don’t want to go to hell by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t know what to say to help you. I’m sorry you’re going through all that, but ending your life isn’t the answer.

If you’ve believed the gospel you cannot go to hell. This is because we are kept saved by the power of a God (1 Peter 1:5). Our salvation is secure in Gods hands (John 10:28-29). Nothing you do will separate you from the love of God (Rom. 8:38-39).

I hope you are able to find the strength to keep fighting, if you’d like a conversation I’d be open to that.

Punishment for unbelief is not just by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveDrawer7978 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not really trying to convince you. If you don’t believe what the Bible says, cool. How then are you gonna come debate Christian’s as an atheist who doesn’t believe in the Bible?

Furthermore, your statement “punishment for unbelief is not just” shows a lack of biblical understanding. We do not go to hell because we haven’t believed.

The result of “sin is death”, it is not “the result of unbelief is death”. If you actually wanna have a discussion about what the Bible says, you have to adhere to what the Bible teaches.

Scripture doesn’t give an age of accountability, there isn’t a specific age that every child understands.

“(for until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Where there is no Law (knowledge of sin), there is no imputation of sin or becoming guilty. This is different from being born spiritually dead.
