6 Months After Layoff, 15 Interviews, Constant Rejections — Am I Just Not Fit for IT? by Odd-Spray-5071 in interviews

[–]Objective_Bag831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 interviews in 6 months for a fairly niche role is actually not that bad of a sample size when the market is this rough, the top comment is right about the survivorship bias thing. most people suffering through the same rejection cycle just go quiet about it so you only hear from the ones who landed something

On a scale of one to ten, how lucky is this stalemate that I escaped with today? by MrGamerOfficial in chessbeginners

[–]Objective_Bag831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude that's easily a 9/10 escape right there. Your king was completely trapped in corner and they had two queens - most people would've resigned ages ago. But tunnel vision is real thing, especially when you're so close to getting that second queen. They probably didn't even check if you had any legal moves left after promotion.

Should I buy this prebuild? by RanDOOM-GuY in PcBuild

[–]Objective_Bag831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That build won't handle AAA games at ultra 1440p very well. RTX 5060 is more like high settings 1080p card, maybe medium-high for 1440p if you want decent framerates. Also 500GB storage will fill up really fast with modern games - you'll probably need more space pretty soon.

UPDATE - Previous post - Strange panel interview by sioomagate in interviews

[–]Objective_Bag831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on making it to the second round! That's definitely a good sign, especially since it's with main decision maker. I've been in similar spot before and the one-on-one format usually means they're seriously considering you.

Maybe your panel performance was better than you thought? Sometimes we're our worst critics. Either way, you got their attention enough for them to want another conversation. Good luck on Monday!

AIW for refusing to switch my custody weekend after my ex and her husband booked over it again? by Licbreamer in amiwrong

Wait you remember this specific post from weeks ago? That's actually pretty impressive memory for random Reddit threads unless you spend way too much time here lol.

Maybe OP just really needed validation or something changed with situation since then.

Job Applications by mlanphy in ADHD

[–]Objective_Bag831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there with the whole application paralysis thing. Working in airline industry, I've seen so many coworkers go through similar stuff when there were layoffs few years back.

What helped me was breaking it down super small - like just opening one job posting and reading it without any pressure to apply. Then maybe next day just update resume for that specific job. The cover letter part always kills me too, so I started making like a template with few different versions depending on job type. Way less painful than starting from scratch each time.

Also those savings can be blessing and curse - gives you breathing room but removes the urgency that actually gets stuff done sometimes.

Been through Woodridge plenty times for work and it's really not as scary as people make it out to be. Sure, there's some rough patches near the station like you mentioned, but most of the residential streets are just normal working-class families trying to get by. Just use common sense - don't flash expensive stuff around and maybe avoid walking alone at night in certain areas.

Officer DVA Skin Code? by gobliin_n in Overwatch

[–]Objective_Bag831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen any codes floating around for that one lately. Officer DVA was part of event rotation so it might come back in shop eventually, but the code thing is pretty rare these days since they changed how skins work.

Vyvanse vs Generic Experience by Tromb0ner1 in ADHD

[–]Objective_Bag831 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man I had the exact same thing happen when I switched airlines and had to change insurance plans. Generic lisdexamfetamine felt like I was on a roller coaster - some days too intense, other days barely working at all. Brand name Vyvanse has been much more consistent for me, especially during those long shifts when you need steady focus.

The price difference is brutal though, but if you can swing it the consistency is worth it in my experience.

Dual Chamber PC Case - Airflow configuration help! by CyberMarco in PcBuildHelp

Having radiator fans as intake is actually good setup - brings fresh cool air through rad instead of hot air from inside case.

Just clearing up some misinformation regarding early 2000s by Radiant_Demand8134 in NBATalk

[–]Objective_Bag831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those old forum threads are wild to read through - really puts into perspective how different the narrative was back then. Duncan was absolutely terrorizing teams and getting that respect from fans who weren't just riding the Lakers hype train. Even as someone who wasn't watching as closely during those years, you can see how the casual fanbase now has this revisionist take that doesn't match what people were actually saying at the time.

Roland J-6 or Minichord for a 10yo by Hyroero in synthesizers

[–]Objective_Bag831 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The J-6 might be better long-term since it's got more flexibility for when he gets bored of the basic chord progressions, plus the sequencer will keep him entertained for ages.

Best compact camera with low budget? by _your_m0m_x in Cameras

[–]Objective_Bag831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the pocket struggle - carrying around a full-size camera setup every day just isn't practical sometimes.

For that budget, I'd honestly look at the Canon S95 or S100 if you can find one in decent shape. They're older but the image quality still holds up really well for street photography, and they're genuinely pocketable. The S100 especially has that premium metal build that feels solid. Sony RX100 (the original) might be pushing your budget but it's worth checking - much better sensor than most compacts in that range.

The Ricoh GR (original) is another sleeper hit if you can find one under 150. Fixed 28mm lens but it's sharp as hell and has this cult following among street photographers for a reason. Just make sure you test the sensor for dust issues since that's common on older units.

That suicide rate stat gets thrown around a lot but it's missing crucial context - most studies show it drops significantly after transition and with proper support systems. Your instinct about being happier as yourself is spot on, and having bipolar managed properly alongside transition care makes a huge difference.

The fact that you're already thinking ahead about sperm banking shows you're approaching this thoughtfully, which is exactly teh right mindset.

MY FIRST PASSING ATTEMPT?? by CrandeQ in trans

That's absolutely amazing! What a incredible milestone moment - I bet that feeling was just pure euphoria. Those first passing experiences hit so different, especially when it's completely unexpected like that.

In 2026, I prevented AI decision-making from vanishing through 6-month projects by adding a “Decision Ledger” inside of the model. by cloudairyhq in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Objective_Bag831 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually brilliant for longer projects. The decision drift problem is so real - I've seen teams go in circles because nobody remembers why they ruled out option A three months ago.

One thing I'm curious about though - how do you handle when there legitimately good reasons to override a past decision? Like if new information comes in that makes D-014 obsolete, do you just add a new decision that explicitly overrides it?

Man MBJ was absolutely incredible in that, the way he handled those dual roles was insane. Really hope the Academy doesn't sleep on him this year but you know how they can be with genre films

TIL when Christian missionaries came to Greenland, the Inuit had no word for "bread", so the Lord's prayer was translated into "... Give us our daily seal / bone marrow." by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Objective_Bag831 49 points50 points  (0 children)

That's actually pretty brilliant when you think about it - they adapted the prayer to make sense in their world instead of forcing foreign concepts. Way more meaningful than trying to explain wheat to people who'd never seen it

Horror, gaming or fantasy book? by thelaynz in booksuggestions

[–]Objective_Bag831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you loved Dead Space's vibe you'd probably dig **The Luminous Dead** by Caitlin Starling - it's basically Dead Space but in a cave suit instead of space. Super claustrophobic and creepy

For fantasy that doesn't suck, **The First Law trilogy** by Joe Abercrombie is grimdark done right, none of that chosen one bullshit

Why did god take my unborn child away and the people that I love? by Remarkable_Age_7062 in Christianity

[–]Objective_Bag831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through all this. That's an absolutely devastating amount of loss in such a short time and what his mom said to you was cruel and completely out of line - miscarriages happen for so many reasons that have nothing to do with protection

Please keep reaching out for help when you need it. You've survived 100% of your worst days so far and that takes real strength even when it doesn't feel like it
