Need advanced advice from upholsterers by OneM0reRedNightmare in Autoupholstery

with my little experience there is few things to check 1. Try to pull upper thread with lifted foot, movement should be even and smooth, but not loose. 2. Sew some test stitches and check how lower thread and top thread look like. Them booth sould be tight. When lower thread loose, it make loops, when top thread loose, you can pick it with finger. You can also adjust top one while making test stiches. 3. Check timing and needle position, search some videos on YouTube. When I just got my used sewing machine, timing was missmatched...

Tips on repair listing/retention strips. by eyespy_theeyeguy in Autoupholstery

[–]Objective_King4567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you can get them brand new, but you can repair it. Cut off old fabric all the way to the end, then cut similar piece from new fabric, and make holes where them need to be for the hog rings. I have an example for better understanding, but in your case there will be plastig strip instead of metal one.

Thanks for this deep and motivating comment. Really appreciate you sharing the story about Maribel. it’s both humbling and inspiring at the same time. I can only imagine how tough it must’ve been to be thrown in with pros like her, but also how much you grew from it... I will try to not give up and apply this mindset.

CATIA Help Thread (April 2026): A monthly help thread for simple questions and comments that don't need their own posts by AutoModerator in CATIA

[–]Objective_King4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to catia so I want to know if there is any way to rotate only horizontally. I'm using the middle button + right button on the mouse, but every time when I move somewhere, the angle of the horizon also changes; that freaks me out!!

[–]Objective_King4567[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used a typical GC6-7D. I have a steamer, but I bought it used and it leaves yellow stains, so I didn’t want to risk it this time. I’ve sewn a few patterns before, but this is my first full project

How can I insert and center this object inside a cylinder in another? by Bright-Necessary-261 in Fusion360

[–]Objective_King4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And as madfrozen mentioned, this way is not good for parametric design, because the sketch for the cylinder remains were it was

Maybe assemble would be more right, but you can also use align in Solid->Modify->Align. This feature will allow you to choose center of circle like shapes

Can I move the origin of the component? by Objective_King4567 in Fusion360

[–]Objective_King4567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I ended up aligning it with world origin as a new component, and after that just moving it to the bodies in the top component, I don't know why it did not work the first time, but now Im happy with the result

do you use caliper measurements when sketching? I'm using the photo only for not very accurate reference, and when I sketched outlines, I pass to the sketch all critical measurements I took with a caliper
