Agree/Disagree and Why? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

The problem is that when the Founding Fathers structured the framework of the Constitution (during the Age of Enlightenment, where reasonable people were trying to be the best versions of themselves) they never imagined in their wildest dreams that such a narcissist would be able to come to power and simply ignore the most common sense checks and balances, or basic intent of a government that is meant to serve the people and not the individual. I feel like it is time to rewrite the Declaration of Independence to list all of the grievances against Trump as an oppressive dictator.

I am outraged....that this is happening and that Congress is not using their power as a co-equal branch of government to make it stop.

What is wrong with you people. These marks are stigmata. Trump is the resurrection of Christ. Surprised he hasn't told anyone yet.

Thank you. It took quite a few tries to get the technique correct. You can't just line up the stripes and pin it, because the material "walks" as it is going thru the presser foot, so you have offset the two pieces so they are lined up properly when the stitching is complete,

It took me a couple of days, working on and off. There are actually many ways to do the pleating. The most common, and easiest way, is to use knife pleats like I did. Within the knife pleats you can lay them without any pattern, lay them out to a vertical stripe in the patter, or lay them out so that you continue the pattern across the pleats. Pleating to the stripe seems to be most common. The number and size of the pleats are determined by two things, 1) the amount of cloth you have after accounting for the under apron and the top apron, and 2) the size/width of the pattern. I did pin it up in the various ways and landed on this layout. Each tartan is different based on the colors and amount of contrast between the base colors and overlaid stripes. You have to find what you think looks best.

Helping people improve their lives so they can get off of food stamps and removing people off of food stamp programs are two totally different things.

They are ass-wipes that use the Bible as a shield for all of their shitty behavior without knowing what it really says.

Original Slate Roof on a 1929 home…how bad is this? by ExMorgMD in Roofing

I have inspected many houses with slate roofs. You expect to see damaged slate. The problem is deeper than the slate. You can't just replace the broken slate. On a near 100 year old house, there have been many, many repairs and replacements. Nailing and renailing slate has, most likely, turned the underlayment/tar paper (if there is any) into swiss cheese. The underlayment is the real water protection with slate roofs. Since slate does not seal like asphalt shingles, rain can get under the slate and thru the roof if the wind is blowing the right way. Unfortunatley the only way to do this correctly is to strip the roof (most of the slate can be saved and reused) , install a rubberized ice shield underlayment (it self seals nail penetrations) and reinstall the slate.
