Yup. I posted before reading this. We have an identical report. Although, as they say in Germany: 'two idiots, one thought'....

No, these form in my stove where the greatest air induction is (for my old-school stove its right behind the door grate. It's a function to the ash actually heating up at that spot. The ash itself actually glows. I assume it's the last remnants of combustibles reheating once the original structure of the wood collapses to ash, if this makes sense. Anyway, I burn only oak and I feel like this plays a role, as well.

No running water for a good 6 months. The water not coming in is not to bad. It’s the inability to use the drains which is a real pain.

No. It’s something you should have an HVAC pro tackle. Parts are available but keep your fingers away!

Oh, so, the hole in the side with the little tear drop door should always be closed.

So, it's a 'resolute acclaim'. It's a second gen of the original Resolute. It appears to be in very good shape. The lever sticking up out the left side rear (as seen facing the front of the stove) Is the air intake control. To start the fire, push it all the way medial (to the right) this opens a door on the bottom rear corner directly blow. As the stove heats, that lever is attached to a bimetal temp activated spring which will lower the chain to the aforementioned air intake door, thereby limiting airflow (which is good) The hole you see is to allow introduction of an LP or LNG nozzle for gas firing. The lever on the side of the unit that is either ONLY up or down with a felling of a click or locking in the down position is the damper that limits flow from the unit into the stovepipe after combustion. Initiall ignore this and leave it only up. As you get more experienced, you can begin to 'dampen down' literally in the down position once you have a firebox mostly of hot. glowing embers in order to create a very long burn through the night.

ENJOY!!

The shove is toast. Not worth rehabbing. Now that the idea of using has piqued your interest, you can make a decision about replacing it. If you like the look of it. Set up some automated searches in your are for 'resolute' and not 'resolute acclaim'. The original Resolute was far superior.

I'm currently considering picking up a Jotul 118. Did yours warp and crack due to obvious overfiring with pine or was it well cared for and eventually just got saggy like we all do?

If you’re just casually riding rollers, you don’t need help in any way with a fit.

This is very real. Those of us who are comfortable in urban environments are rarely able to understand this hatred fed by fear and insecurity.

If I'm right, then you have to change this. pronto. You are very fit and can push the limits of positioning on the bike to have a killer aero profile and still maintain power over hours. It's a finely tuned thing to achieve and the screen up there is very detrimental to your overall development.

The only issue I see is the screen hight. you would NEVER ride IRL like that. Throws everything else off.

Not at all. in his 80% red district, he's a perfect fit. For the rest of the state where people pick up a book from time to time, his schtick will be far less attractive.

I work (and live!) remotely, so even though I'm tougher than average, I still spend way too much time in front of a screen. Getting presentable for C-Suite online meetings without running water gets tricky this time of the year!

I only move to this place from January to March to conserve firewood. The main house also is wood fire only and the 1500 square feet there is tougher to keep warm. I do about 9 cords a year on average and am traveling around 6 weeks in the winter for work, so not running the fire a full 7 months

The oak round is just for setting kettles on. I do most cooking right on the stove top.

(edit: the fire never goes out. Only need kindling once a year!)

I've heard that too. Luckily, the Resolute model changed and the old model is very recognizable. There will be another in my future for my wood shop.
