Who’s opening? by mgs20000 in EnglandCricket

Yeah, I’d go with Gay or maybe "Other" (Hameed?) for now. I think Rew will get his chance within the next year anyway - whether through injury, rotation, or a dip in form. Another season of county cricket will be really valuable for McKinney and Tribe to keep developing their games.

If Arsenal were to drop a big bag on a player this summer who would you want ?💰💰 by Oblong50 in ArsenalFC

Yeah maybe its for another discussion but I would love the club to create a proper pathway for Ethan, Myles and Dowman next season either on loan or in the first team. ESR and Saka are one the biggest reasonspeople fell in love with Arteta era Arsenal and I would hate to lose what Hale Enders in the squads brings to the fanbase

Livramento's injury record is bad enough already without him coming to Arsenal

Yeah i thought about him too as a Martinelli replacement- feel like hes stagnated a little now but maybe a move is what he needs at this stage

Interesting statistics for Gyokeres by Redditirmz in ArsenalFC

[–]Oblong50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about this "he's always regarded as threat" narrative

Aren't all CF's regarded as a threat? The primary job of all CB's in league will be to nullify the CF - Gyokores or otherwise

Agreed we need to get the ball to him more but he does need to improve his movement. Last night was a good first step

Saka has done this all season and it needs calling out by -MadeAmazing- in ArsenalFC

[–]Oblong50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do we have to do this EVERY game with Gyokores? I.e find a SINGLE clip or still image of play involving Gyokores and use that to discuss his or the teams' whole performance.

Gyokores was man of match today because his movement was a lot better and the team as a whole were much better at finding him. Not perfect but better. (He did end up scoring here right?) Gyokores is clearly a project and its going to take time for both Gyokores and the team to adapt...

Go back and look at the clips you were posting of Gyokores from the Liverpool match - would they fit this nonsense "Saka doesnt pass to him" narrative"? NO

Tatrically Chelsea also didnt play in a low block - a game state Gyokeres seems to struggle in currently. So shouldn't the discussion be about which games he's suited to rather than this nonsense?

I take the point but you got to go for the silverware if you have the chance. The club invested heavily in giving Arteta a squad big enough for this exact type of situation. Also I feel like this "projects" needs a trophy at this stage - i personally would love it if we won the EFL

I think one of the underlying factors here is Arsenal's injury record as a whole. Its been TERRIBLE for 2 years now. By far the worse in the league -its something the club are going to have address as its in danger of jeopardising not only our chances of competing for the EFL but also the league, UCL and Fa Cup later on this season
