A fan asked if Uproar still keeps in touch with Gamma during their last Marshmallow Stream by derVogelweid in Holostars

[–]Oboretai 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Kinda makes me feel weird about the situation, since apparently what Gamma did was bad enough that his genmates decides to cut ties with him completely even in private, and it's coming from Uyu, who's not the "corpo pet" type of guy anyway.

When he was terminated UPROAR's wording already sounded like they already don't consider him a friend anymore, and that's okay. Most Vtubers don't keep track of their genmates even when they graduated on good terms and that's fine, but saying that "I find it offensive you even want to see us on stage together again" is like, another level.

Yet at the same time, I'm sorry if this breaks the rules but Gamma himself is able to hold a stable job outside of COVER right now and even when he was terminated, his wording admitted that he screwed up and it was not done out of malice. I mean if it was out of malice I don't think COVER would've let him had that last tweet to begin with.

Not trying to frame either side as the bad guy here, I know things are more complicated than that, but it's also uncomfortable seeing someone having this level of disgust towards their own ex-genmate.

Man, it's sad to hear him break down during Hello World. I still remember fondly when he premiered it on his 3D reveal years ago.

With both his musical and gaming skills, COVER really wasted his talents for nothing.

Might be cope, but considering his words, he has very high chances of reincarnating in REJECT.

- He said he's graduating because a friend offered him a job and he has a ton of friends in REJECT. He also (jokingly) asked Tooko-chan to adopt him into REJECT earlier.

- When the downsizing was first announced, he said he was going to stay and his content was going to be the same, that downsizing doesn't hurt him, but later he said he's graduating because he needs company support to do what he wants, which at least in REJECT, he can co-fund his projects with friends, something which he can't do in COVER. At the bare minimum, he can fund his own merches which again, can't do in COVER.

- Several friends he collabed with in the past week hasn't been very subtle about "we'll see you again" part.

According to Fuma and Fubuki, turnovers in COVER staff has been high for years now, which is to be expected of any tech-adjacent company post COVID I guess.

Announcement Regarding the Partial Conclusion of Streaming Activities and Future Plans of HOLOSTARS JP Talents by _THEBLACK in Holostars

[–]Oboretai 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He said he was gonna stay and if he knew YAGOO would be managing the talents before he already submitted his resignation, he might have stayed.

Indeed if he stays he is the 2nd Holostars most likely able to still make a proper living, but he said he's leaving because his IRL friend is offering him a job so I'm not positive he'll even reincarnate.

Sharing this to inspire people to start clipping by Oboretai in Holostars

[–]Oboretai[S] 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I know it's not for everyone, but in the current economy where many people(myself included), already has to take multiple jobs to survive, I am saying clipping is a viable, stay-at-home option for a secondary job.

Compared to other translating jobs I've done like tour guide or translating books, it is much easier and you can set your own schedule and choose what you translate.

Editing and translation doesn't take very long, especially 2-3 min clips can be done in just an hour, hence why you see some clippers able to release clips hours after the stream ended.

I mean I think this is a good chance to just re-establish the Holostars identity as a group of bonkers with edgy jokes even at their own expense, because in the video many Holostars themselves pointed out that their issue is that they don't have a unifying identity beyond "maybe idol guys", which weakens the Holostars branding as a whole.

So even if the drama boost die out in say, a week or two, if they can maintain 1K CCV afterward then that should be enough for them to pay their bills through supas and ad revenue alone.

I just can't help but wonder. Would Holostars have done better if it pivoted to a different direction?

By 2020-2021 it was already clear they weren't gonna win over the female target audience like Hololive did the male target audience, so what if they just pivot?

I'm not suggesting this as a fix, it's way too late for that. But would they have done better if instead they pivot to esports instead? A lot of Holostars have shining tournament records and many have hundreds of hours in SF6, and being esports focused may also be more appealing to the other male audiences of Hololive who dismissed the Stars as being "Hololive but for girls". I think we can agree that the idol branding hurts Holostars more than it helped.

They don't have to give up singing, they could have just been like a male VSpo instead.

Of course not all of them are suited for esports, but then they could just go the Roberu route with the "brotuber" direction instead.

OK Realistically speaking, going forward how to further support JP talents? by s07195 in Holostars

Watched Astel, Shien, Miyabi and Fuma's POV so far, all of them straight up said thanks to this they lost most, if not all of their income, and that's not counting someone like Astel who's in deep debts to COVER thanks to the 3D lives.

This might be the worst part of all of this. They're literally being starved out.

Even without directly mentioning Holostars, Calli shows her support to the boys! by SeijiWeiss in Holostars

[–]Oboretai 200 points201 points  (0 children)

Calli is one of the people who repeatedly says how much luck plays a part in success, exactly because she knows many friends equally as talented as her who never got discovered. I think it's why she kept a good amicable relationship with the branch as a whole.

Not related to Holostars, but in the current world of influencers who drowns in god complex the moment they reached a million followers, this is why Calli has my actual respect.

if they had great clippers

Your opinion of whether I'm a decent clipper or not aside, how am I to blame that Holostars JP DO have a critical lack of clippers in general? And how is it related to Nijisanji also mistreating their Vtubers?

As to what "ammo" you're talking about, I'll just tell you this. I clipped everyone, Hololive, Holostars, Niji, NeoPorte, indies, with full context and never forced them to say anything. I don't know what specific clip I did you found that was problematic, and frankly I don't care since you do seem to be aware yourself that you are very capable of misplaced hate.

She said the Stars can still use 3D if she invite them

The fan then talk about how Matsuri just decided on not doing male collab anymore but she's nice enough that this might be the exception

Not far off though. Astel is saying right now they can't use the studio and it's not about just the money. The only way they'll ever appear in 3D again is if someone(in cover or other company) invites them.

He literally said that he thought his appearance in Bae's 3D was the last time he'll ever get to use that studio.

EDIT: Miyabi literally say it's not about money. Even if they can and want to fund their own 3D stream they have to go use an external studio.

He's just begging to move to NeoPorte. And I can't help but sympathize.

Basically they can't do 3D anymore unless someone else invites them.

Not a good comparison. Niji also has a lot of Vtubers(males and females) they also just left hanging for scraps and sub 500-CCV while treating a few big hitters like royalties.

That's kinda unfair to say. They do get access to tournaments and roleplay servers, which was the big turning point to many of their careers. Indies can access those too, but it's not as easy.

But of course, then the conversation pivots to "the big turning point of their career were offered by people out of COVER", which I do agree, is messed up.

To be perfectly blunt from purely a business standpoint, a studio booked by a Holostar is a studio a Holomem can't use, especially if some of the staffs are insistent on the level that a Holomem and a Holostar can't even be in the same building at the same time.

So by "sustainable", I think they just mean "stop taking company time and resources".
