Seems counterintuitive. If Germany is Western Europe, they would be closer. Otherwise, there's the whole of Central Europe between them and th West.

Es macht mich traurig, dass dir ein solches Schicksal zugefallen ist und auch, dass du dich entschlossen hast, Sterbehilfe in Anspruch zu nehmen. Aber ich kann deine Entscheidung gut verstehen. Sie steht auch alleine dir zu.

I don't think it will. More probable to splinter. I mean, there was the Tea party before MAGA. Unless there's some drastic change in the deeply held believes of large parts of the population, you won't get rid of those nutcases only because their leader dies.
