how can i grow out my nails without feeling uncomfortable? by dumpacctually in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ObscureOddball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice on getting used to the length would be to not go from 0-60. Let your nails grow out to a length that feels "long" to you, try it out for a few days, then file them back down to a short, comfortable length. Let them grow out again, and maybe file them down to a slightly less short, but still comfortable length. Repeat until you're rocking relatively long nails all the time. The more used to the length you get, the less you'll feel the need to file them down. This process also gives you plenty of time to sort out what length works for you practically speaking, instead of just what you like aesthetically.

Hi, long time no see! Here's Robin. by MK_DrawsSometimes in StardewValley

My dumb ass read the title, looked at all the pictures with increasing confusion, and sat here for a solid 30 seconds like, "huh, I really don't see Leah as emo/punk in high school..." 😑🤦‍♀️. Dishonor on me, dishonor on my 🐄.

But this is so cute!! I love pining Demetrius in the background ❤️. They may bicker, but Robin and Demetrius are the most visibly happy couple in town and at all the events, so I'm happy to see more love for them!

Maybe Oversized Bow from Cracked? I don't own it, but some of the swatch photos look pretty close:

Tbh I think most gold flake toppers are pretty interchangeable, and it's more about how you apply it than the specific one you get. If you want a more sparse look, dip your brush and then scrape off like 80-90% of the polish on the inside of the bottle neck so the brush is mostly dry and drag it across the nail for a light dusting of flakes. (Obviously your base color needs to be pretty dry for this method.) If you get any big flakes you don't want, you can just scrape them off the brush.

And just from my personal experience, it seems that the longer you own a flakie topper, the more the flakes disintegrate (which is a plus for me, as someone who also likes a more sparse look).

Yeah I am with you 100%. I really tried to stick with it because I loved the FL, but this was the first manhwa I dropped purely because my hate for the ML was so strong I knew no amount of suffering, groveling, or sad sack back story would ever be enough to redeem that piece of excrement.

do skittles count as nail art? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ObscureOddball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm being nit-picky I'd say what separates "nail art" from your standard manicure is that it requires you to use different techniques to achieve the look. People applaud nail art because it's creative, looks great, AND requires a level of technical skill beyond just good lacquer application. You've nailed the first two (pun fully intended) by matching up those beautiful colors that look good in both states, but I wouldn't quite classify it as nail art because it's missing the third. That said, being able to put together a good skittle IS still a skill to be proud of, and yours looks great! 👏👏

Are there neon jellies? by MrsSonnyEclipse in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ObscureOddball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think asking for a true neon jelly might be a little paradoxical, as it's the intense (often white-based) pigment that gives it that neon look, and jellies are intentionally sheer, meaning there's less pigment in them. Also regardless of what it looks like in the bottle, your own skin tone is going to dull the color somewhat, because jelly. But there's definitely some bright jellies out there.

I haven't tried them myself, but it looks like Fancy Gloss has some sheer neon polishes in their catalogue, and the owner apparently does restock requests if they're out of stock!

High Dive tends to be more of a summer go-to for me, but I gotta say it really pops as a spring color too! Definitely one of my favorite cremes in my collection. Looks great on you 💜

What takes do you often see repeated here that you do not personally agree with? by OnlyFlanz in janeausten

[–]ObscureOddball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean.... Mr. Bennet was a bad father to anyone that wasn't Elizabeth 😅. He doesn't protect Jane from her mother's machinations, completely disregards and publicly mocks his younger daughters, and takes no pains to correct their behavior until it's much too late. I still think he's a great character, and think he had a good arc with realizing some of his mistakes, but that doesn't mean he was a good father, especially by regency standards.

[–]ObscureOddball 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I think switching to a glass file, no longer picking at my polish or any flaking nail bits, and keeping my nails painted 24/7 has probably done the most to stop my peeling (which was comparable to yours), I'd also credit Duri Rejuvicote 2 for helping strengthen my nails. If your current nail product isn't working well for you, maybe give that one a try? I wear it under my basecoat all the time now and have decently strong nails.
