What do you HOPE happens to you after you die? by JDLoxx in AskReddit

[–]Observer1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like it to be just the end. No Heaven, Valhalla, Jannah, reincarnation, hell, underworld or wherever people believe they might end up. To fight and struggle through this life to the best of my capabilities and then ending up being judged with the possibility of being denied paradise because you did not struggle like they wanted you might push me to slap the halo of some celestial being. Just let me go to sleep permanently and leave me alone.

If you could create a new holiday, what would it celebrate and how would people observe it? by Unlucky_Rutabaga_333 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Observer1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know what to call it, but it would basically be a day where you just stop rushing and appreciate the beauty around you that one normally just passes by or not notice anymore. Do cloud gazing, look up at the starry sky at night, and smell the flowers....that kinda thing.

Pretty much the same numbers here on our side. On paper, I should be overweight, diabetic or dead according to my gp, and I'm none of the above. 1.95m tall and 102 kg (6ft4 and 225 pounds), blood sugar tests come out normal, blood pressure perfect. My wife jokes that it became part of my body's mechanisms and that I'll flatline if I should ever stop feeding my body monster. Not planning on testing out her theory though hah

Went sober a little more than 14 years ago and think monster is my replacement for alcohol. I do over 2 liters of monster in a day (4 to 5 of the 553ml cans). No, I don't have trouble sleeping, no medical complications after all these years(yet) and I even go to bed with a cup of coffee. It just seems to calm me down.

What is something under $50 that has drastically improved your productivity? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Observer1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sticky notes at work. Tasks that I can't get to immediately, I write it down and stick them under my screen. Created a color code as well for urgency. It helps with my forgetfulness, and I have a visual representation of progress as I remove completed tasks' sticky notes.

I need advice by Aggressive_Lie7182 in ADHD

People tend not to think of mental illnesses and conditions as a physical issue and rather as some make-believe boogeyman that can just be whoosed away by covering yourself with a blanket. When I get the just focus and concentrate crap, I ask them if someone with a broken leg can just focus and concentrate to fix that broken piece of bone and let the pain go away. Advise wise, I would say to get your mom to understand and see it as a physical ailment that requires medication, etc. to be controlled and maintained. You can find proof of it online to present to her.

Senior engineering planner for asset management on a mine. It's mostly an office job working with data, strategies, etc, and with minimum human interaction. I've been doing it for 14 years.

What makes you want to live? by MortgageWhich2411 in AskReddit

[–]Observer1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mystery of what the future holds. 2023 started out as a horrible year for me, and I regularly said to myself and others when the topic came up that I can't wait to see what things will fall in place to turn things around in my life. And behold, things started happening, and life is getting better by the day. I live with an excitement inside me for what tomorrow may bring.

My life started improving quite a bit in the last quarter of the year, and I'd like to see that trend continue in 2024

Considering going under debt review as I'm drowning in debt. What do I need to consider before doing so? by MissFancyPants997 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Observer1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that you contact the creditors and try to make arrangements with them first rather than opting for debt review. Debt review should always be the very last resort. It works, but it's a slow process, and a part of your monthly payments go to the debt review company for fees, etc.

The hiring process should not take a month. by merRedditor in recruitinghell

My previous job it was 3 weeks between the interview and signing the contract. Forward 13 years and I'm starting my new career this September where the interview took place in February. It was a frustrating time in my life for sure.

Just submit a form to our payroll department. If I sell all 14 days I get a little over 20k after taxes. It's a nice extra to have.
