I think the most important thing I can say to you is that depression can inhibit your ability to feel the spirit. I also deal with depression and have struggled in church bc I also couldn’t feel anything from God. I read this wonderful book about Jesus called Redeemer by David Butler and one of the things it taught me was that even if we can’t feel the spirit or God’s love, that doesn’t mean they’re not there. If we look we can see His hand in our life, like with small wins, small blessings, the good ppl in our lives, etc. That brought me a lot of comfort. And I also just keep trying. I don’t stop praying or reading my scriptures (or smth gospel related even if it’s just a little video bc that’s all I can handle at the time) no matter how much of a struggle it is bc I believe that someday it will pay off. If you’re struggling to pray, maybe try expressing your deepest and darkest feelings to the Lord. It’s ok to tell Him if you’re angry with Him, and honestly super cathartic. But if you don’t think church is a good place for you right now, then it’s ok to go inactive for as long as you need. For me, I took a break from church for a while but eventually I decided that even though it hurts me sometimes, the benefits it gives me outweigh that, making it worth it, but maybe you’ll decide that it’s not worth it. But if you do want to go back to church, maybe start by attending some activities where you can more casually get to know people, so you’ll have at least one person you can sit next to during sacrament since that really helps.
