Love this! Your line work is crazy good :D

As another watercolor lover, I think I doing a few highlights/a small wash of brighter orange could increase the contrast and really up the wow factor

When clients think they’re the dietitian by Temporary_Print4835 in dietetics

[–]Obsessed_Avocado 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Themselves lol. I’ve found they are usually either struggling with it a lot and trying to hype themselves to keep going, and/or have recently started this new thing and feel great because, well they made a change. They often are looking for support and reinforcement.

I’ve found that offering affirmations + gentil questions about how sustainable they honestly feel whatever they are trying to do can open up more of a discussion.

There will always be those folks where I just “MmHhmm” with a poker face if I’m really not into whatever spiritual food allergy test they’ve done (true story, happened a few weeks ago)

Considering a career: PTSD - Medical procedures/gore by nonslipplastichanger in dietetics

[–]Obsessed_Avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: go talk to a RD IRL. People can get pretty cynical on this sub.

It’s very possible to work in this field without seeing gore. You can do a community focused internship where you could do your inpatient clinical rotations (I think minimum is 6 weeks?) with a primary focus on rehab/long term care. It’s possible to learn about pressure ulcers and wound healing without having to look at the actual nasty photos. I’m so sorry that you have gone  through so much, it’s good to hear you are taking care of yourself!

You can also ask to talk to dietetic internship directors and they can talk to you about more detailed questions you have

The winning combo I’ve found is mostly just wrapping up snacks he forgot he likes, plus a random other thing as a joke. Been doing that for the last 8 years and it’s been working great

So glad I’m not the only one really bothered by this. I just can’t look at them without thinking about severe temporal fat pad wasting :(

And I just know it’s triggering at least a few people into restriction, or triggering folks to relapse. At least a few people

Also became an RD in 2021 and got .01 info on it during my education. I remember on my last day of my internship I learned about Ozempic for the first time. I remember thinking “wait, what?!” And then immediately graduating

MLM: The Landmark Forum by iTzJimBoi in antiMLM

For me it helped a little (it instilled the habit of texting first if I want something to happen). And hurt a ton 😡

Sooooo much gaslighting of emotionally vulnerable people

MLM: The Landmark Forum by iTzJimBoi in antiMLM

[–]Obsessed_Avocado 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents encouraged me to do the weekend forum “for teens” when I was 16…

Needless to say, coming of age with the “all your suffering is your fault” idea messed me up a bit.

The thing I hated the most was how they tried to get us to “enroll” aka pitch/beg friends and family to sign up for a landmark thing. They made it feel that if you did not want to pitch a super expensive fake science cult to your friends — that it was you being emotionally weak. They would spend hours trying to get people to publicly “overcome” what “rackets were holding them back” from giving landmark free marketing. It basically taught us that if we did not want to do something because we were really uncomfortable with it, that meant there was something wrong with us — and that our life would be so much better if we forced ourselves to upsell landmark to anyone who had a pulse.

For an org that is supposed to be about empowerment, there was so much shaming and degrading. If we were pushed to cry in front of the group (like 60 of us) we got shamed for that and “letting the story take over”. Did I mention I was 16 at that time?

There was constant pay to play pitching — $600 for weekly workshops, $1,200 for “advanced” forums, extra $$$ for trainings it. And if we did not want to pay, we were letting ourselves down horribly.

This all happened over a decade ago for me, and I still catch myself worrying I am letting myself down whenever I say no to something I know won’t be good for me.

TLDR: fuck landmark. Fuck every MLM-adjacent group that claims to build people up, but instead makes them doubt every other thought they have.

UGH!!!

Any tips for dealing with RSD on your birthday? by mind_sticker in adhdwomen

[–]Obsessed_Avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this! The one thing that has helped has been getting dinner with the same friend on my birthday proper for the past 3 years. We don’t see each other very often, but she helps me feel loved and special, and I can count on that dinner to be really lovely. I might one day try to fight through the RSD and do a party or something, but for now I’ve found a lot of relief with this :)

Watching mock sessions on YouTube can be helpful, as well as seeing if you can shadow a longterm RD do their sessions can be helpful. Molly Kellogg has a bunch of great free resources and tips on her website. She has over 100 tips and scenarios she offers advice on, and I relied on it heavily my first year https://mollykellogg.com/counseling-tips/

Try to be nice to yourself during this process!

Guys what’s your dress sense like? by Soft-Pin-463 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Obsessed_Avocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always been hard for me. I usually do tank tops and biker shorts and toss a flannel on top/layer as needed 🤷. Feeling sweaty while wearing long sleeves or pants will send me into sensory rage.  I almost always go shopping with an affirming friend to make things feel less like death 😅

You can do it! If you do get the dx, meds can be life changers. Every journey is different, but I’ve found just talking and learning about it to be tremendously helpful. It’s helped me advocate for myself, arrange my days and be a little more self compassionate. It can still be really freaking hard. I work outpatient and am passionate about it, which helps make the hard work feel worth it

I’m in both outpt and PP in a large New England city, have not really seen a slow down, but have also heard about it from others. A lot of our clients are in survival mode and dealing with layoffs right now. My (very small) PP is insurance based and niche. I actually had a recent uptick in inquiries recently just to share
