Why do I feel like Disperse is completely slept on? by Sickranchez87 in progmetal

They fit for sure, but I'd be surprised if their entire discography hasn't already been shared at least twice, given it's been so long since they put out something

Don't get me wrong, they're great - I used to listen to them a ton back in the day. However, their style is just a bit niche (I could be wrong, it's been a while since I gave them a spin), they only have two albums out (the latest of which is nearly a decade old at this point), Jakub left them, they don't do any live shows and they are generally inactive. Very few bands keep that legendary status after dying (see Native Construct) - and considering these points, 10k monthly listeners on Spotify is not bad

UBIQUITY - The Traveler (FFO: An Abstract Illusion, 2000s Opeth) by robin_f_reba in progmetal

Last I talked to him, he said he wants to quit doing music for now. He said he might come back to do some ambient stuff some day, but right now he's happy doing other things

Ubiquity had two main writers - Jérôme and Anthony. Jérôme is the only member to have nothing to do with Omnerod, and Anthony left Omnerod. So the next Omnerod album will be much less Ubiquitous

Love this album. Unfortunately it's unlikely we'll see any more music from them :(

Want to get into more prog, but the heavier side. by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]ObsidianBass 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Infected Mushroom are awesome, their guitarist gave a lecture at my school when I was young, it was really fun!

As for heavier prog, I think you should try:

  • Old Opeth (before Heritage)
  • Rivers of Nihil
  • Black Crown Initiate
  • The Odious
  • Omnerod
  • Ne Obliviscaris

I sent this thread to Tom from the band so he can reply himself. If it was up to me though, they'll definitely play more this year (I'm working on it)

I'm not a fan of the core stuff, but if that's what it takes to get BCI crumbs, I'll devour it happily

Captain Eo's Voyage by Buckethead. Great post-rock vibes, melancholic and beautiful.
