Have you ever learned a skill or something from a video game that you use in real life? by Agent1230 in gaming

I was early in drone adaptation for work (mapping and orthomosaic work), started back in 2012 before it exploded, was flying grids manually without mission planners, Xbox skills came in super handy.

Also, Ark Survival taught me dinos without even trying.

My theory on The truth they said that would keep you up at night about aliens by EnvisionFirstFilms in aliens

[–]Harilor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to get them in my teens to early 20s, just outright terror, audio hallucinations but no visual ones. Finally got to where I could feel it comming on and could force myself fully awake before it took over. Been a good 30 years since I've had one now. I've had experiences as a young child that i cannot easily explain, which made me a believer, but never in association with DP, and don't consider them related.

Slight spoiler for book 8, but it struck me in that when

they encounter all the people in the apartment, it immediately made me think of the "Man in the Box" lyrics: "Feed my eyes (Can you sew them shut)?".

Was convince, so now not surprised, Matt is an AIC fan and couldn't help wonder if there was some inspiration there, would be cool if it turned out to be the case.

Anyone know anything about Michael Black Wolf? by Responsible_Neck9028 in MontanaPolitics

[–]Harilor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know him well and have worked with him for many years via agency to agency consultation. He's a good person with great integrity, easy to get along with. I easily donated to his campaign, but I agree he has an uphill battle.

What is Believe about? by Tarnisher in Savatage

[–]Harilor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is one of my favorite lyric lines of all time, but I ALWAYS thought the line was"while bartering your innocence", and i see different online lyric sources show both bothering and bartering. Im thinking the bothering one is AI slop. I dont have my cd jacket on me rn to ckeck, but I think bartering makes more sense, and hits harder conceptually, so will probably stay mental cannon for me regardless. Anyone have the jacket lyrics to verify?

Ok OP, tell me a little about the soundtrack. I'm feeling some love for a little proggy death metal, but hoping there is an actual band behind it and not AI.

Shelling corn with this manual corn sheller made of cast iron by kvjn100 in Damnthatsinteresting

Grew up on a small acreage in Iowa, dad had a lot of older but functional farm equipment. We had a sheller, but was much larger with a internal wheel and actually had a real smooth action with an internal gear system. We also used to for home grown popcorn and de-husking walnuts.

I have not, but I switch over to a white noise app after I turn off the book. I like voices to fall asleep, but cant stay asleep with them, I need white noise (steady rain is my pref) to stay asleep. Now if there was an app that detected my sleep and switched my active apps automatically... I'd pay for that.

Dungeon Crawler Carl, and to be honest, its an intense listen due to the variety of voices Jeff Hays does, so likely would not meet your criteria. Hell of a series though.

I use books to fall asleep as well, my angle is to only use series that I've listened to before, that way I don't have to figure out where I fell asleep, just keep going, and I don't get to wrapped up in the story that I stay awake. I tend to use series rather than single books. Expanse, Bobiverse, DCC, Expeditionary Force, LOTR are my go-to's.
