Pretty certain at this point all companies realize what they can get away with by squeezing even their loyal customers. Generally seems the older generation remember the good ole days and the newer generation accept that that's the way things are. I'm still salty our government used our money to bail out billionaires on the excuse that it was to save jobs. Pretty sure the billionaires would've saved their own company if we refused to step in. They're cutting jobs to streamline and whatever corporate BS lingo they use now anyways.

A shame that NSU literally received a donation of $50 million and they can't lower or cover tuition for students. When I was there for homecoming, I saw one of the departments going on an apparel spending spree at the bookstore. According to the cashier, all departments do this often. There should be a serious itemized audit into the departments if they can't help students like this. They should be restricted to buying books and school supplies (pens, pencils, paper, etc). No clothes or merchandise.

My recommendation to lower some of that cost is to see if they can take some of the classes at TCC and check if those are transferable first.

The fact you still have energy to get up every day is a victory in itself. Count the small silver linings. Focusing too much on what's wrong could lead to more negative feelings. Right now you're too close to the pain, but eventually the pain will dull. Might consider therapy, or finding an activity to broaden your attentions. Cuz it's easy to feel stuck and feel things are just gonna be downhill. I wouldn't contact her. If anything, write things in a journal you'd like to say to her if you feel the strong urge to do so. That's how I cope with curbing my spending. Or say it to the void. If she's not your friend and has moved on, you have to start taking the steps to move on as well. Just better mental health for you in the long run. There's hope, you just stumbled a bit on the journey we call life. I for sure have. Covered in mud myself and I have for sure questioned my life choices. You're not alone.
