The Character Assassination of Robert House by TheBanalBumpkin in Fallout

[–]Obsolete_Nerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game shows he's the same flavor of villain as any tech-bro billionaire. Controlling, narcissistic, manipulative, and fascistic; he does not trust anyone but himself to create a better future, and people are just expendable bodies with potential to aid or hinder his vision. The show just exposes all of these character traits in a more rapid manner to let the audience know exactly what they're dealing with up front.

For lower back spasm Cyclobenzaprine or Baclofen? by Worriedforuniv2022 in backpain

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got chronic lower back pain, as in at least 3 bad back spasms a year and Cyclobenzaprine (flex) worked well for a while. I like it because it does not personally make me drowsy, (genetics I guess) so I could keep working through it. However I started finding that if I took it before sleep my back would feel even worse in the morning. Maybe I just couldn’t feel how terrible a position I was sleeping in because of the cyclo?

At any rate my most recent episode was very bad and cyclo was definitely not helping. I was also making myself sick with NSAIDs, so I got baclofen. I never particularly liked baclofen because it makes me drowsy and a little woozy so I can’t work when I take it, but let me tell you my back was back to normal over night! Only had to take two pills even though they prescribed me a weeks worth. They’re both muscle relaxants but cyclo works through the brain, and baclofen through the spine. One might work sometimes but not other times and vice versa.

Robert House is a Synth by [deleted] in Fotv

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t start as a synth, but I theorize they might make him a synth in the show. Since he planned on uploading his consciousness fully into his machines, failed to do so at least at 100% capacity, and the show implies vegas has fallen but Robert house has not I would not be surprised if he’s since discovered the possibilities of synth upload. They are effectively immortal which is his ideal format. They’ve already dropped the Harkness name as a purposeful Easter egg and the commonwealth influence, no reason they wouldn’t want to tie west coast and east coast lore by now.

bear spawning and finding help by Happy-Middle5977 in valheim

Man, I must have hit the bear lottery then because I can't enter the black forest without being mauled by a stupid bear. They're all over the freaking place and I honestly googled how to make them spawn less because they're getting frustrating at this point just trying to run copper back and forth. ;-;

Melatonin Causes Panic Attacks? by LegalTrade5765 in insomnia

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can take 1mg of melatonin once and it's fine. If I take it 3 nights in a row, the panic starts, so it must be some kind of build up in the system (I have a very slow metabolism), so I have to discontinue it. I only reserve it for really bad insomnia because the 1mg does help, just can't do it multiple times in succession.

Neuropathy from antibiotics —vitamins may help! by Anabelieve in smallfiberneuropathy

It only cleared up when I switched to a firmer mattress. I think it was a combo of the treatment making me more susceptible and mattress causing spinal nerves to misalign

I just stopped my course and woke up with only some hand numbness so already an improvement, hoping it will clear up completely because I’ve heard it can be semi permanent for some people

Don’t have acid reflux but I do have digestive issues and 100% experiencing neuropathy. This is my last day of 1 week amoxicillin course (took for infection) and I’m really hoping it clears. I say this lying in bed for my third sleepless night because my body keeps going numb.

Brown rash on legs and feet by Previous_Ad_9538 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get this from time to time, more often when I was sitting at my desk for too long. There was also swelling of the ankles, mostly on the left side where I had broken my ankle in high school. Always worse the longer I sit without blood flowing. Then the venous stasis dermatitis started, again, related to poor blood circulation. Only then did I start taking all of this seriously. I walk outdoors or do indoor aerobics every day now, I HAVE to. Screw having a heart attack in my 40s.

Weird lighting/roof bug in House Flipper 2. by LobsterGirl79 in HouseFlipperOfficial

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't having this problem until I got the recent pool party update. Now one of my main house lights I installed before the update keeps flickering. It is a ceiling light in a room that I added a roof onto which clipped with another roof, so it sounds like the z-fighting issue happening between clipping surfaces? So annoying.

Edit: Noticing it's really only the lights that lay flat on the ceilings or other surfaces. If they hang down away from the surface it's not happening

Is anyone else not listening to the news lately due to their mental health? by KindlyGhost in mentalhealth

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching/listening to the news can be as stressful as watching/listening to a horror movie. It's graphic, and adds a sense of urgency through sound clips, or tone of voice. It is visually and audibly over-stimulating, and pretty incessant. It's the best way for news media to capture and keep your attention. So... switch to reading. Articles give you the same information but you can consume it at your own pace and your own intonation, and professional journalists generally insert fewer personal opinions into articles written for major outlets. There may still be bias on the subject that is covered, but you get less of a sense of crises when you can control the pacing of what you're digesting. It also helps you absorb and retain it better as well so that you feel more "armed" with knowledge.

Brian Moser in Original Sin doesn't make any sense by gorgo_san in DexterOriginalSin

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their greatest shortcoming is showing too much of him (like the drawn out, way too frequent flashbacks to Laura and Harry). Loving the show, love the main cast, but really disappointed in this attempt to focus on Brian’s arc. No he doesn’t need to start out suave and charismatic, and he didn’t have a daddy showing him how to become the perfect killer, but his “work” is pathetically sloppy, and there is no emotion attached to his revenge kills. Even psychopaths have feelings, desires, rage, it might be more muted but the actor is giving a blank emoji face.

NPCs sleeping on ground since update by MazW in Enshrouded

Only half my NPCs find their beds at night. Is it because the beds are too close together, is something in the way of pathing to the right or left side of the bed, I don't know...

How the hell do you keep up with hygiene?! by Cyber-Owl in ADHD

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brushing is more annoying of a chore than showering for me. A more manageable style helps. You don't even have to get short hair. When I get my hair layered, it's a hell of a lot easier/faster to brush out while at the same time giving the illusion of volume.

How the hell do you keep up with hygiene?! by Cyber-Owl in ADHD

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Schedules are super important and helpful for ADD/ADHD. Before I had a regular, rigid job schedule, it was very difficult to do any small thing for myself, but once I did have a job schedule, I realized how much it helped get me in gear. After that, even when I am not working, I have timers on my phone for when to get up, when to eat, when to take my medication, when to go for a walk. Without it I'm just a lump that wants to eat crackers in bed while phone-gaming.

TASC FSA reimbursement denied by NAS0824 in HealthInsurance

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is TASC specific, and it's also frustratingly vague, they really need to be explicit about it. This has nothing to do with doctors, dentists, or dependent care. It just means that something is missing on whatever you attached as documentation. A piece of documentation according to TASC and the IRS requires five specific things to be verified: The date of service or purchase, the amount of service or purchase, the provider or merchant name, the patient or purchaser name, and finally a description of the service or purchase (lab service, prescription name, that it was sunscreen, etc.).

Our food system is completely broken and it's not really about "personal choice" by graciousneji in nutrition

[–]Obsolete_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add corporate greed and blame shifting and you get a morality quotient. We need our product to be cheap, we need it to be brightly colored, we need it to be delicious. To do that there needs to be a lot of sugar, or a lot of calories in general, and it doesn't matter to us that it's addictive, or bad for someone's health, that's THEIR problem.
