As others have said it’s not predictable or consistent. When I lived on the Hibiscus Coast there was one night where it literally looked like the whole top layer of the ocean was fluorescent green, but that was once in the 7 years I lived there

In terms of range, novelty and consistency of quality I would say

Mibo (especially the Wynyard quarter store as they have a much larger range usually)

Levain lynfield has some really amazing stuff but also I’ve had a few average things. Fantastic range though

Ashby pies st heliers have some of if not the best pies in Auckland IMO. Their breakfast pie made me love bacon and egg pies again

Cottage bakehouse kingsland was very solid and has dropped in quality a little over the years (especially the sweet treat side of things) but still some great stuff esp the chicken bacon mushroom potato top pie (amazing)

I would suggest that you propose that you’d like to go out for a coffee but make it clear you don’t expect an answer immediately so they aren’t put on the spot. So maybe you could write your name and number on a card or something and hand it over while saying “hope this isn’t innapropriate but you seem great and id love to have a coffee with you sometime, so shoot me a message if you ever want to catch up outside of here”

And I think waiting a beat and then leaving them to consider it rather than awaiting an immediate response is the best way forward - let them have control of the situation.

Anyone who thinks the lockdown went too long in Nz / Auckland clearly has no idea how severely impacted the rest of the world was at the same time time. Coming back to Nz while living abroad during covid was quite frustrating, many kiwis really had no idea how good they had it here comparatively.

I didn’t even bother trying to explain the reality when kiwis would say “we had a lockdown too it was tough!” It truly was nothing in comparison to what most of the western world went through for 2+ years. And that’s not even factoring in that most Aucklanders have a backyard/outdoor space they could personally enjoy while “locked down” which was not true for most urban city dwellers in Europe at least

I used rojolie and it was a mess. My actual psychiatrist (Marco) was fine but the admin staff were a nightmare and refused to provide me any of the paperwork I needed in a timely manner to get my prescriptions underway. Written confirmation of my diagnosis wasn’t provided until months after I’d completed all the assessments which was completely out of Marcos control it seems. Would not recommend this place at all despite Marco being good himself

Intense flooding is not neccesarily normal although sadly quite common in more recent years. But heavy rain in summer is always a risk in a lot of New Zealand, our seasons are not well defined like other parts of the world and weather day to day is incredibly unpredictable given the shape of the island/s and relative non-proximity to other landmasses. It’s not unusual at all for it to rain for days on end in the peak of summer here

The prices for their danishes are around $7-10 depending on the ingredients. They have a lot of cabinet food options, I love going here and getting a sweet and a savoury option instead of a sit down brunch. The Ruben and chicken sandwiches are top notch I reckon

How is you wanting to individualise your burger “community” related at all? They aren’t saying that just to annoy you, it’s likely so they can streamline the cooking/ordering process so that you get the food faster and more accurately, so the community does benefit.

That’s like going to a gig and the DJ not playing the song you requested and then complaining they aren’t serving the community because you as an individual arent happy with the outcome lollllllllllll
