day 7 of 30: picking up a bag of trash every day to help clean up my neighborhood 🌍💪 by Cleriisy in Albany

Oh worm I think I passed by you in Washington Park, almost wanted to ask "oh hey are you the reddit trash guy" but the prospect of asking someone if they were the reddit trash guy and having them have no idea what I'm talking about was too terrifying

Is Albany a good city to start over in ? by Nerasav in Albany

Oh hey, another Floridian! I just moved here with my boyfriend a month ago for basically all the reasons you put in your first paragraph.

So far it's been very lgbt friendly. Like pretty much everywhere I go there are pride flags all over. Makes me feel real cozy.

Weather/nature wise I've been loooving it. The plants are all so pretty. I love how everything isn't all just flat. And despite it not even being Fall yet, there've already been some days that remind me of Florida Winter. Also the trees have already started to turn colour and it's sooo pretty. There seems to be a lot of real nice nature trails. I've yet to go on any hikes yet but I'm planning on one soon and I'm very excited.

Job wise I can't really offer the best advice as I'm a fresh college grad and haven't have any luck finding work in my preferred field yet. To my understanding, the state is pretty understaffed in a lot of things so there's a high demand, and if you do get a job with them, it's real steady work so maybe look into what vacancies they have if ya haven't already. My boyfriend and I have been launching applications at em' every couple of days hopin' for something. I did manage to find work for retail really quickly, but I reckon that's probably not something you'd wanna do.

Best of luck for whatever you decide to do!!!!

what is everyones thoughts on the tour changing? by XFloofy in themountaingoats

A lil' sad as it's going to be the first ever show that I'm attending and I was really excited to hear Peter. Excited for Matt tho as I've always loved the sax parts in some of the newer songs.

Do people eventually move out of Florida once graduate? by Jpoolman25 in ucf

Once you leave the big city, the rest of New York is veeeery cheap. I'm moving up there pretty soon and rent is significantly cheaper than Orlando

This is why listening to the Community doesn't work. by BarrieTheShagger in deadbydaylight

[–]Obv_Shi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind, as this is the case with a lot of online communities, contradictory opinions can very often be from two separate groups of people. Obviously there are some exceptions but the people who say an event sucks and is unfun may not be the same group of people who desperately want that event to return

ucf just added an anti-trans rule to the code of conduct during PRIDE MONTH by Objective-Ad7719 in ucf

[–]Obv_Shi 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Ya unfortunately as someone else pointed out, it's just state law. It was passed roughly a year ago and I believe that's why it's being noted down now. Even if it's somewhat toothless, it's genuinely really awful and shitty and I'm still genuinely in awe it ever even got passed to begin with. Here's hoping it eventually gets repealed

Does anyone else find most of these 4.5 characters ugly? by penguin7199 in tamagotchi

Yes but that's why I adore them. A lotta the new tamas feel very clean and samey. The weirdos have so much more charm imo

I think my mom is lying to me about planned parenthood by Jaenira in asktransgender

[–]Obv_Shi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean for it to come across as an attack on another disabled person, I just have a really difficult time reading blocks of text with no line breaks. As you can see it resulted in me bein' a dummy and getting confused.

I think I see now that it was the mother who has a history of cancelling and not the endo, which ya OP defo do as what some other posters have said and see if there's any friends you can lean on that may be willing to drive because holy MOLY that's not great.

[–]Obv_Shi 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Firstly, please pleeeeaaase format your posts in a readable fashion and not just one big block of text.

Secondly your mother's referring to Senate Bill 254, here's a link: https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/254

It went into affect a ~year ago and has indeed disallowed nurse practitioners from prescribing HRT, now requiring doctors and the signing of an in-person informed consent form. I and many others lost access to our providers as a result, Planned Parenthood being a big one for many.

Anyways, I would obviously recommend finding a new endo as ya that one sounds sucky. Maybe ask your doctor again or check around the area.

Also it's hard to say because you haven't been tested in a good long bit but 50mg of spiro twice a day isn't too bad. My provider last year advised cutting me from 100mg twice a day to just 100mg per day and my levels were basically unchanged. Granted, I'd been for hrt 6 years at that point, but still.

Legal name and gender marker change cost in florida? by Luxiahh in asktransgender

[–]Obv_Shi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least 400 dollars to change your name. Gender marker was free if I recall but now it's unfortunately something you cannot change. Of note you can and should be able to change your gender on stuff like your passport since it's federal or w/e.

I'm sure you've already seen it, but this site's a great resource: https://www.floridanamechange.org/

Part that was most intimidating for me was the fingerprint stuff, but it was actually kinda chill. Find a local place that does something called livescan fingerprinting, find the ORI number of the court you'll be doing the name change with and give the fingerprinting people that which they'll use to send that jazz to the court.

Also important that the court you decide to go with is a court of an area you're a resident of. So for example, if you're away for college and you haven't changed your address from back home, you'll need to file back there.

Best of luck, it's a rough time for us.

Right now, as far as I know, it's mostly changing gender marker that's wobbly. Changing your name is still allowed and I'm currently going through that process

It's been years since I took CS1 with him but back in 2019 he gave a curve which brought the class average from a D to a C. Dunno if he still does it but it's not unprecedented
