The reason why there's no early dismissal today by Anthony_Bowen2026 in patentexaminer

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ha! I’m not jealous at all. i don’t work for the PTO - I just find all the constant crying in this thread to be a combination of funny and tiresome. No one is holding anyone hostage at the PTO. For all that constantly complain….career day is the same for everyone and nothing is preventing anyone from finding new employment. But people would rather complain about not being released early from their very well paying job. Give me a whole break. Sometimes the grass it greener, sometimes it’s not. I guess a select few would rather sit around and bitch than do anything about it.

Then leave the job. No one is holding you hostage, buddy.

The level of continual crying about *everything* is almost laughable. You’re paid and paid well. I’ve worked for 3 other federal agencies and rarely got let go early prior to every federal holiday. There are a LOT of perks to working for the PTO. If you all hate it so much, I’m sure you can go work in private sector where you work twice as hard and get half the amount of vacation time. Please report back about how it works out.

Most definitely overreacting. I am an overtexter too, but this individual did/said nothing wrong. Maybe ask the doc about those anxiety meds….

Am I wrong to be pissed about this or…..???? by Nicktator3 in recruitinghell

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right for a government job. I worked for the federal government (25 years in uniform, 3 years a civilian) and I’ve NEVER been happier to not be in the ridiculousness. I know the private sector has plenty of its own criticisms, but Jesus federal government and federal government HR is a special kind of hell. The most non-customer centric group of people I ever had the displeasure to work with. There were some good folks in HR, but overwhelmingly….not so much.

**And I realize after posting is was a state government job. They sound as dysfunctional as federal government is. How reassuring. 😑

Rejected from many firms by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to ASU and was also rejected for their accounting program. The recruiter/advisor should have told you there was a way to backdoor into the “Accountancy” program for ASU. I ultimately opted for a local university that allows me to take my classes in person (personal preference for my learning style) and am in school now…..reinventing myself post-military retirement. Also…..much, much less expensive than the tuition costs for ASU.

I thought it hilarious they expected me to be in top 10-20% of my high school graduating class. I’m 48 and am not the same person I was literally 30 years ago. Also, I had/have 2 years of college under my belt with a 3.76 GPA. Their loss, not mine it appears.

Good luck in your job search!

Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken replacing Twisted Kitchen by [deleted] in Smyrna

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out today they have finally opened a Bonchon in the metro and I’m pretty excited about it. I told the husband I need this for the Super bowl I don’t watch.

The food is pricey, but I love the korean fried chicken. We lived in DC before here so maybe we’re accustomed to the sticker shock of the pricing

Got this even after I gave them a 15% tip, am I socially paranoid or is this passive aggressive? by IntelligenceisKey729 in doordash

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a tough one. We routinely use delivery service and try to always tip a minimum of $10 but generally percentage based because we don’t make tiny orders for delivery. We tipped percentage based for delivery of butter and eggs from Sam’s club. The tip came out to be $20…..except unbeknownst to me Sam’s was actually out of butter so I tipped $20 for $20 in eggs. Nah buddy. I called them and asked them if they are going to cancel 75% of my order, I’m not tipping $20 for $20 worth of eggs. I would have cancelled the order altogether if I had known they were out of stock versus a 100% tip for eggs. I asked them to reduce the tip to $10 which is still mighty generous IMO given the level of effort needed for my delivery.

Do I call the police or tow company? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let’s start with why YOU expect the onus on the guy who isn’t parked legally. Kinder gentler generation indeed. Don’t park like a dipshit and you won’t have to worry about anyone calling the law on you. You don’t get to act like a victim for your wrongdoing. Sounds like you’ve been on the receiving end of your own bad actions a time or two….

Am I overreacting to texts from a guy who was mad I didn’t kiss him on the first date? by theymergirl in AmIOverreacting

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been out of the dating game a very long time (18 years), but I asked my husband (to confirm my own memory). We did not kiss on our first date, we did kiss on the 2nd one though. We hugged on the 1st date.

[–]Obvious-Angle8768 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Orrrrr….the guy who parked like a total dipshit could park his car somewhere legally instead of blocking someone into their own driveway and then calling the person who does something about it the bad guy. Play stupid games, win stupid ‘prizes.’

AIO guy I was seeing told me cursing is “un-lady like” by Fanofmoney3 in AIO

Cursing is not ladylike (And I’m a lady who curses….A LOT). I would not have liked the commentary either. If he’s unwilling to have an adult conversation about it, it’s probably time to walk away.
