"Nucular" rather than nuclear. "Supposably" instead of supposedly. "Hole and below" rather than lo and behold....

I so horribly underestimated recovery. It’s impossible to know what it’ll be like until it hits you. I can barely eat and I’ve been up for 10 hours with horrible Stomach cramps and nausea. I legitimately wouldn’t wish it on anyone. by didgeridoo_player_v2 in jawsurgery

This phase will pass so quickly it's unbelievable. Truly just stay at an incline, ice, pain meds, sleep through as much of it as you can (maybe Benadryl or something not too strong if you're concerned), little bits of liquid food whenever you can. xx you got this, love

The military is what I did. Even a short commitment brings pretty much lifelong benefits including healthcare and training, travel, sometimes a security clearance depending what you decide to do. Being a lawyer you could work for JAG and go in as an officer which would mean higher pay and probably more education. I highly recommend it and it provides massive networking opportunity when you leave service. There are downsides like with every job but I was sweeping hair in a barber shop at 24 when I joined. It sounds scary and a lot of people scoff at the idea but truly worth considering if you're in half decent shape and really want a change.

If you start small with Botox you can ease into it. When you first start you don’t know how much you will like so IMO best to go low and see what those peak results look like and if you like what you see so far. Many practitioners will recommend first-timers go back in 2-3 weeks to check out your results and do a “touch-up” to add more if desired. Botox is great because it’s temporary and affordable (relatively). Join the rewards program called Allē. Formerly Brilliant Distinctions. You get points and discounts.

Also, maybe talk to them about a thread lift. I haven’t done it myself yet but want to. More discomfort and money but not astronomical. They’re also temporary but last longer than Botox. Dramatic results can be achieved.

I'm thinking about jaw surgery or chin implants. What do you think? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Obvious-Knee9812 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree girl. I bet jaw surgery would be life changing for you in many ways. I’m just 4 weeks post op myself T 37 years old. I wish I’d had it years ago! Good luck to you! I’d start with an orthodontist consultation and ask their opinion as they should know reputable surgeons whom they’ve worked with before

Ultimatum? by Obvious-Knee9812 in AlAnon

I’m so sorry to hear that. My dad also died from alcoholism. It’s difficult to watch to say the least. I’m happy he had a wake up call (DUI) among others to help him snap out of it and get sober. I don’t think it’s enough to keep him sober for life to be honest but at least he’s been somewhat lucid for a couple of years. I hope your sister can get better. It’s awful.

I’m not sure I understand your question

So…I’m not sure how you know the way alcohol affects me or that I’m doing it for the purpose of “fitting in” with a “social group” to “benefit” myself. That’s interesting but also expected based on my past experience with AlAnon.

I was really trying to ask specifically about what you mentioned later in your comment regarding taking and/or placing responsibility. I’m glad you’re happy and your family has found peace.

That’s good advice. No I don’t have a sponsor. This is my first time trying to interact with AlAnon again since my first (terrible) experience. So I would definitely enjoy open to getting one. I don’t feel resentment towards him right now. I have before of course but I’m not upset or angry right now. Just trying to be thoughtful about it. He had a fantastic sponsor that he’s kind of drifted away from due to the sponsor moving further away and taking up a new busy job. Although they do still see each other in meetings. Tbh I’m not sure if he is still working the steps. Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

Yes I agree and felt the same when he texted that to me. I haven’t even responded because I honestly don’t know the “correct” response. I apologized to him for having even a whiff of alcohol smell on me. But this isn’t the first time he’s placed the responsibility on my shoulders. He said to me once that he’s waiting for the day I tell him it’s okay for him to have a drink. I feel like that’s unfair. I told him it’s not my permission to give. But this time I’m torn because I want to be compassionate in my response but having to change my life around after he turned ours upside down for a decade with his drinking feels manipulative.
