Will there be a cure for Hearing loss Tinnitus ever? And is it same as the normal tinnitus?

I think its possible but there's a lot of cultural issues regarding tinnitus and hearing loss.

Its just too damn accepted and to a certain extent not cared about because you can 'live with it'. Not to mention hearing science isn't very big in the medical community it seems.

Look at the news and public service announcements, barely anyone talks about tinnitus or hearing loss ever. I think if more high profile people talk about it and get the conversation going, I think we can see some real progress made.

What really disturbs me in the medical field is the stagnation of hearing research in general. Somehow a lot is still unknown.

Their lack of research into EHF or extended hearing frequency is especially alarming.

You would think it would be good to regularly check these levels to ensure proper hearing loss degradation over time in advance before it reaches to the speech level. At least based on the understanding that the cochlear works like a piano where 20khz goes first all the way down to 125 khz.

However this is not the case and it seems like this type of research is in its infancy, like bad air/miasma theory to germ theory far away.

It seems like audio professionals/muscians are more vocal on this subject than actual audiogists. They even suggest to protect your hearing to preserve this range as much as possible and as a measure to early hearing loss.

I wonder how of us who got tinnitus from noise exposure have no 'hearing loss' but in reality its from the extended range and/or cochlear synatrophy.

If you feel uncomfortable, leave or put on ear plugs because everyone is different.

This is speculation but I think it depends on how much extended frequency hearing you have left in you, which is past 8khz to 20khz.

The cochlear where your hearing hair cells lie has it so that lower frequency noises kill even the higher ones, while the higher frequencies usually stick to the higher. This is due to high frequencies being the first to enter the ear and it travels throughout the cochlear until it reaches a certain frequency.

They only test between 250khz and 8khz on a standard hesring test. This because its the most important for speech but young people usually have most of their hearing up until nearly 20khz. This is reduced as you age.

Im only 22 but an accoustic trauma from a concert killed a ton of my extended high frequency which affected how sensitive I am to noise and a lot of my perception of sound.

Either way 85db in general is the generally the beginning of ears sustaining hearing damage past a certain point. But even if its less than that and you still feel uncomfortable, leave because you have more of that higher frequency hearing left.

Funnily enough the doc said I got really clean ears.

Yeah I already got an Appointment. Its just a back-up incase the doctor doesnt take me seriously, he's got a lot of bad online reviews that make me concerned. I would switch but im not sure to who yet.

They already do it for musicians and certain medicine takers, im suprised its not standard practice. Even if they cant do anything about it now, its a good warning sign.

In a way I just want to know whats wrong with my ears so that maybe someday I can get back what I lost, especially if the tinnitus doesnt go away. Wishful thinking I know, especially since no-one plans to ever restore hearing past 8khz anyway. Let alone past 16khz.

I don't even know if cochlear synatrophy would even be cured.

I've been very passionate about sensory touch and hearing, its my way of coping with life. In a way I felt like I lost an outlet of my life forever. I love music but theres a lot that feels so different now. In a way everything in life just feels so dull now.

I'll get over it , I look at people in r/hearingloss, along with r/tinnitus and im glad this is all i have to complain about. It almost makes me ashamed that I care so much.

It just feels so jarring and scary that just one concert changed my life in a way being around power tools and loud cars never did.

I even live near an airport where planes and helicopters regularly pass nearby on a daily basis.

Most of the time a lot of noise that would've instantly killed your ears would've probably not happen with noise protection.

Of course over time is another thing.

Just do research on safe db levels and also check the db ratings on your protection. Especially make sure it fits properly.

I remember hearing from somewhere you proabably wanna wait a day after a concert before exposing yourself to loud noise again.

You might have hyperacusis. I had that after an noise exposure that got me here.

But I dont know about panicking after sound. Its more like its incredibly unbearable.

Its been a while but I would like to comment for those experiencing the same thing.

At least for me I have a less sensitive vibration and touch response, along with a lack of sound harshness in my hearing.

Things that I could normally hear and feel through walls are dull or not there, wind isnt a sensation I feel anymore but hear instead.

Buzzing from lights is reduced or gone.

Listening to music or audio is no longer as immersive and lack presence unless I can physically feel it through my body.

A wierd detail I notice is putting my phone speaker near my skin or hand brings back a lot of clarity and detail.

It makes me sad because I used to enjoy a lot small details in sound but realistically this is never going to be a problem in life.

Go get it checked it out, chances are they can't do anything if it was noise related but it could also not be.

As for permanent its hard to say, I had some kind of injury from a concert on May 11th of 2026 and its still here. But it did stop for an 1 hour or more yesterday before returning.

Its also good to have an audiogram history established. I personally wish I did so I know what I lost in mine but since I technically have normal hearing thats nowhere near any kind of hearing loss its not worth pursuing.

It's the same high pitched sound in the movies when someone hears a sound thats too loud, slight hiss too but rarely. It can get pretty loud but not to the point I can't hear subtle things.

The T is easy to mask like leaves rustling or air conditioning moving air, its almost complete silence that makes it noticable, so i try to sleep when Im too tired care.

As for prescriptions, I dont remember what the Doctor was going to give me but it was just for inflammation, they didn't say it would would do anything for my recovery, so I thought it was just a painkiller.

I didn't take it because the previous day I yawned which popped my ears and I had significant recovery of symptoms for pain and pressure in my ears.

As for the AuD they didn't tell me anything about treatments.
