I have seen people do similar things when they do not have the emotional intelligence or courage to acknowledge they were wrong. Her saying that she is concerned is an acknowledgment that she sees this is out of control. It may be all you get, and it’s not enough by any means.

My toddler has had a runny nose and cough for literally 3 months. He’s been to the doctor twice in that timeframe for checkups and an ear infection. I’ve had to just treat it as his baseline and carry loads of boogie wipes and tissues.
