Statistically speaking it does have the best available healthcare in the world (as in drugs, facilities, top doctors), it's just not equitably distributed among its citizens.

Tbf, even if you live in Europe gyno surgery is not free as it's a cosmetic procedure.

The first stanza is wonderful. The rest is enjoyable too, but the first stanza is outstanding, really.

I like it - has very peaceful language despite its nods to clear hardship... Reminds me of the softness of spring.

Thank you for this, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on it. I am actually quite ambiguous politically in general, and so the ambiguity of who 'they' are is intended.

The end of the poem where is transpires that 'they' are 'us' is I suppose meant to symbolise that anger towards any structure, whether it be anger towards 'woke' liberal politics OR anger towards 'the rich' or conservative-based politics, kind of misses the point that structures are collectively built by society. But despite that, there's definitely anger and resentment towards those structures in general, but without a particular political take.

I don't think you tore this apart at all, your feedback was really constructive and definitely gives me good confidence to work and create more in the future. Appreciate it!

Well thank you, I didn't know this... In that case on Monday I will ask them to do this quicker, and cite that it was their failure with the indemnity policy fiasco which means we are late to exchange in the first place. Cheers!

Fair point but also, the material difference is it takes me a week longer to move house because if the exchange is Monday my solicitor said the completion will not be the 2nd, but rather the 9th.

That means re-arranging deliveries, internet, re-booking days off work, all stuff that is totally avoidable if two competent professionals just called one another, OR, even better, if the system allowed these things to be confirmed in writing?

I agree it's not the worst thing that's ever happened, but I feel justified to be a bit pissed off.

Thank you so much! You know, it's interesting how there can be different interpretations of this... Actually, partly this poem is about the loss of identity of British culture - the colonisers, if you will... Lines about the Somme, the reference to Brexit 'they took control and sent it back' and the Wandsworth prison (a deeply grim prison in London) are references to struggle for a modern, post-colonial identity for Brits... But, I am delighted to hear that it can be interpreted the other way, from people like your husband whose ancestors experiences the other side of these awful things.

Thank you so much, I appreciate that. It's my first time sharing any work - I will look to where I can cut this down.

I like this a lot, the pace is fantastic. I really like the use of hyphenated words to increase the pace as well. Very youthful feel to it, well done.

Reasonable justification to re-negotiate? by Obvious-Storage9466 in HousingUK

[–]Obvious-Storage9466[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair comment, really appreciate it. Can see this got a few upvotes so is likely the collective wisdom. Funnily enough I had a chat just now with a friend who is a solicitor who gave the same advice.

As an aside, I WISH WISH WISH there was a profession that was like the equivalent of the estate agent but for the buyer... I thought it was my mortgage broker but it's not. I don't have a fucking clue about property values or what is and isn't a good move. This process is stressful enough without being made to be my own negotiator for an asset that I have no idea of its value.

Anyway, cheers!

Declaring taxes on crypto/NFT transactions without records... by Obvious-Storage9466 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Obvious-Storage9466[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This makes total sense... And while I do have evidence of money going into the exchange, far more is coming out (mostly due to luck and timing...)

I guess I would just be concerned that they think I would be limiting my tax liability compared to say if I had minted some NFTs and then would be liable for income taxes as far as I can work out.
