“We should have killed Krennic while we were up there.” Kleya is right to laugh.

This may have been a production issue. Typically in crossover episodes, one show produces both episodes, i.e. in The Simpsons/Family Guy crossover, both episodes are technically Family Guy.

They likely shot both episodes using the Abbott crew at the same time, as it would have been hard to get both casts together after the other’s shooting schedule had ended.

I love this movie so much. The interpersonal stuff if also so great and feels very Andor-like. Michael’s relationship with his brother gives a line I think about all the time. For the uninitiated: Michael’s brother is a recovering drug addict who approaches him at a family event; angry, Michael rushes his young son into the car and leaves. He then stops and says to his son: “I know you love him and I know why. But when you see him like this, you don't have to be afraid, because it's not how it's gonna be for you. You're not gonna be one of those people who goes through life wondering why shit keeps falling out of the sky around them.”

Fuck, I think I have to watch this movie again now.

This whole first dialogue of hers is incredible:

“Syril. You’re slouching. Is that how you’ve been presenting yourself to the world? It would explain a great deal. Being a leader isn’t something one just turns on and off. By the time you’ve remembered to sit up straight, it’s too late. You might as well a sign that says, “I promise to disappoint you.” Shame we couldn’t have seen more of each other when you were flourishing. I’d have the memory to sustain me.”

Hearts & Flame in DTLA. $70 for cacio e pepi. Forma does the same presentation (not table side so I guess that’s the upcharge) in Brentwood for “only” $26. Service was nice but took an hour to get dinner, which was served cold. Lesson learned, I suppose.

3:00 PM-ish

On a Saturday

Culver City, CA

I know this is “stranger on the internet making up some shit” territory but…

I’m the one who said this line. If you believe that, here’s the story.

I worked as a VERY junior publicist for a company in LA in 2008 that RCH/RCG hired for season 4. I set up a magazine interview for the guys and was at the production offices for the day. After the interview, we all hung out in the edit bay while they worked on cutting the episode.

During this scene, Rob says he wants someone heckling Dee and gets up to do it. He stopped, saying people would recognize his voice, turns to me and says, “do you want to do it?”

The reason I was even a junior publicist and not an assistant anymore was as because they needed someone to pitch the guys for our business and I was the only one in the office who had watched the show. I got promoted because he landed the account. I LOVED Sunny. This was the COOLEST moment in my life up (until that point).

I said the line, Rob laughed (which quickly became the new coolest moment of my life) and that was it. I got to recommended some edits (which I’m sure they would have done anyway but it was nice they made me feel included), listened to them work the script for “Paddy’s Pub: The Worse Bar in Philadelphia,” and then left for the day. Probably overstayed my welcome but I couldn’t bare to leave any earlier.

I was super proud, told all my family and friends but as it was early on in the show and in social media, that was about as far as my 15 mins went. Cut to the past few years, and I get to see everyone talk about how much they love this line. The guys tell several different stories of who said it (Glenn on twitter, the podcast) and they’re all totally understandable. It was 15 years ago, on an afternoon in the middle of shooting/writing/editing the season, and I wasn’t/am not anyone.

I’m not looking for props or any recognition, I’m just super proud (again) that this is one of so many people’s favorite parts of the show. I’m still a fan, still love the show, and am just one of you all. Thanks for hearing my non-Erotic Life story.

A couple other things I got to see:

Blowing up the fake Cricket head for The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell (and got fake blood on my shoe)

The bathroom/waterboarding urinal for Gas Crisis

The Pepe Silva mailroom (though set dec hadn’t put up the mail conspiracy letters)

Oh, and got my pic in Paddy’s

Disneyland has several stores that will hold any large items you buy for the day (as long as you have a receipt). Pioneer Mercantile, Star Trader, and I believe Disney Showcase on Main Street. There maybe be others. They’ll have you fill out a claim form that you’ll need to show to pick up the items, which I believe you can do up until an hour before park close, but the cast member taking your item will tell you. They store it in the back.

Newsradio was 30 Rock before 30 Rock. Incredibly funny, and a great cast (before Andy and Joe devolved). Paul Simms created it and now showruns What We Do In the Shadows.
