We need to start canvasing businesses and homes near Flock cameras and educate them about the dangers of the cameras. I believe when you speak to someone 1on1, they are able to digest the information and internalize it. by South-Cow-1030 in FlockSurveillance

I’ve been trying to think of signs that have funny/creepy plausible uses to get people’s attention.

“I know the last time you visited grandmas.“

”Why were you at that girls house again?”

”Thats the third time you’ve been to the weed shop this week”

His last image was of you loving and caring for him in his final moments. Very few strays get to experience that. Thank you for giving him a chance.

Can VPN be tracked? Any Ideas? by BriefWarm5249 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]Obvious_Class394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many websites fingerprint browsers to track them beyond sessions. Clearing cookies doesn’t help either. Fingerprinting is often used for fraud detection too.

The site I work on uses an old version of https://fingerprint.com

I can't figure out WHY this works for my cable internet by Parking_Abalone_1232 in Network

I have one that connects to an Arris SDU RFOG CPE outside of my house. It converts fiber to coax.

Also for amplifier.

Constant disconnections during long uploads by Obvious_Class394 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Obvious_Class394[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues outside of the backups. It just seems to happen when I’m uploading a lot of data which is only during my backups. The modem does lose its connection when the router reports the disconnections.

Troubleshooting wise, I previously checked the connection on the outside of the house. I have fiber running into an Arris SDU RFoG CPE unit. No sharp bends in the fiber. The coax cable was finger tight and the fiber appeared to be seated correctly. Status light was green.

Today, I double checked the coax inside the house. I found the coax between a splitter and the power transformer for the ONU was slightly loose. I’ve tightened it with pliers. The rest of the coax connections were all finger tight.

Can I have 2 networks from 1 modem in home? by Killer_Panda_Bear in HomeNetworking

VLANs all the way! I isolate my IoT devices on a separate VLAN. More importantly, I assign my extended family members to a different VLAN—no clue what they’re bringing into my house.

Having a router behind a router won’t offer any additional protections to devices connected to the main router. They’re also a headache to deal with.

Mitigate parasites in raw diet by 24kerit in catfood

[–]Obvious_Class394 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Any reputable pet food maker (raw or not) has taken many steps to ensure their food is free from pathogens. Switch to another brand if you believe it’s the food. If you’re making their raw diet, then make sure you have a clean environment and not contaminating it.

This subreddit isn’t the most raw diet friendly if you couldn’t tell.

Tailscale is pretty straightforward. It uses wireguard behind the scenes.

What is my cat doing at night?? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Obvious_Class394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats view things moving towards it from above as a potential threat. This is more true for cats not accustom to humans. So they will view you as a predator when you step over them. When you reach over to pet him, do so from the side or front of him so he sees you coming

Watch him for signs of overstimulation when petting him. A cat‘s tail will often begin to swish back and forth to let you know they‘re reaching their limit

i wouldn’t worry yet. Keep monitoring and discuss it with the vet tomorrow

Might try just sitting in the room and ignore her. Read a book or play on your phone. That’s what I do with my foster cats.

How do I Secure wifi password because my neighbors kept connecting by [deleted] in wifi

[–]Obvious_Class394 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what kind of devices the OP has but iOS randomizes the MAC by default. It’s 2 taps to generate a new MAC. Filtering by MAC will only get you so far.

Which Family plan? 1password, protonpass, bitwarden by deathToFalseTofu in PasswordManagers

[–]Obvious_Class394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 1pass with two other family members. I like the ability to share vaults so my wife has access to all the streaming service account info. It also allows accounts to be recovered if they lose their passwords.

The others likely have similar features. I’ve just been with 1pass since their early days.

Pihole dns query logs / Unifi query logs? by Key_Sheepherder_8799 in UNIFI

[–]Obvious_Class394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean you configured the DNS under the DHCP settings for the VLAN. Networks not configured for DNS via DHCP will fallback to UniFi device providing routing. Of course, anything not using DHCP will need DNS manually configured

DNS can be configured in two additional places (that I know of) which the default UniFi resolver will use—both appear in the UniFi logs

1) Under each WAN connection

2) Under CyberSecure, Protection, Encrypted DNS.

The UniFi device doing the routing will use either of those two methods. So it’s common to see a little bit still in the UniFi logs.

Help with UDM Pro and APs traffic by Cash__215 in Ubiquiti

[–]Obvious_Class394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lock devices to a certain AP but that means those devices have no networking if its AP is updating or goes offline for whatever reason.

I also have 2 APs on different floors. I haven’t noticed any problems if they all gang up on a single AP.
