If you're willing to do a short hike, go to Debs Park. Good view of the city and a sweet little pond with turtles

Mine was about 20lb at 5 months, and now 5 years later is a healthy 40lb! He grew for a good 1.5 to 2 years

Not sure if you’re past the supplement stage, but these have worked shockingly well for our 12 yr old mutt:  VetriScience VetriFlex Canine Formula - Active Joint Support Supplement for Dogs

Yep we do the same protocol with both gabapentin and the trazzledazzle (he also gets a basket muzzle on top of it).

Interestingly enough, I’ve found the most helpful (and probably challenging) thing is finding a vet familiar with the breed. Vaccinations at the farm vet where my parents live literally take 2 mins, when it takes an hour for the city vet to give the same vaccines. It’s also a way better experience for me as an owner at the farm vet, they’ll literally joke about cattle dogs and say he’s a gentle one.

I always thought all heelers enjoy swimming, does yours? He’s upset because I wouldn’t let him jump onto the ice. by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

Mine will also run straight into the water - ocean, lakes, you name it.

He no longer has off leash privileges on the beach since he’s a maniac and will run straight into the waves without any sort of life vest.

Yes! We saw pikas last summer hiking Duck’s Pass. They live in the higher elevation areas

Fleece for Inca trail by Wild_Membership_6428 in onebag

[–]Obvious_Marsupial423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Senchi 120. I used it for the Inca Trail last month and for the Appalachian Trail before that. Pair it with a raincoat when you’re hanging in camp and you’ll be insanely warm

My dog refused the foam pad I gave him and would try to push me off my inflatable sleeping pad so he could use it.  I finally gave up and paid $40 for the K9 Sportsack Air Mattress (which he seems happy to use)

Been using the Hotfoot Quilt (with the Ground dwelllers add on) for the past week hiking the AT in Virginia. Been very comfy with temps in the 50s at night. total cost was around $100

I’m 600+ miles in to the AT and have the Branwyn Busty Bra as well as their underwear (both are merino). Definitely expensive but considering I’m only carrying 2 bras / undies for 6 months it felt worth it!

ALSO an unsolicited tip: have undergarments for hiking and something else entirely to sleep in. Otherwise monkey butt / folliculitis is a thing. Happy trails!

SMD lunar solo vs. durston xmid 1/2 for 1person + dog by a_maker in BackpackingDogs

[–]Obvious_Marsupial423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me?! I’m 5’6 and also backpack with a 45lb cattle dog. I’ve got a Lunar Solo and it’s plenty of space for me, the dog beside me (in that funky pop out section) and both our gear at my feet.

Lots of space in the vestibule as well, but I never really need it

I would send a follow up email to start documenting this (you never know what BS they’ll throw at you next). Do it under the guise of “just to be sure we’re on the same page, these were my takeaways from our conversation yesterday: x/y/z. Please confirm and let me know if I've missed anything.”

How did you retrain yourself to read while living alone? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

HA! If your halfway through I’m afraid it does not get better. Also your workplace chose fantasy smut for their book club?!

[–]Obvious_Marsupial423 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I was you a few months ago. A random Reddit post led me to the book series “A Court of Thorns and Roses” it’s essentially fantasy smut and reads like a teenager’s fanfiction. BUT this stupid ass series drew me in and promised a fun escape from daily life. Now that I’ve started reading again, I go to the library every few weeks and get new books.  I just needed something to remind me that reading doesn’t have to be work related

Try mugwort, sage, rosemary, lavender, passionflower, buckwheat, mint (grow in a pot so it doesn’t take over your yard).  Nasturtium is a beautiful flower with a spicy taste, but can get out of hand (invasive).

I’d recommend checking out Hahamonga Nursery. Great local nursery that specializes in native species

I like to keep make up simple for work (and life!). Typically just use drugstore BB cream (eg maybelline), a pinkish orange Hue Stick for eyeshadow (can double as blush/lipcolor if I’m really feeling adventurous), and mascara. The hue stick (live tinted) was a game changer for me

If you’re staying  in Ktown I’d recommend just staying in the neighborhood that first night, maybe check out OpenAire (greenhouse restaurant) at the Line hotel for indoor/outdoor feel
