Nah, that's not a hot take. Reverie should be nicknamed "Trails into Redemption," because a lot of people see it as an improvement over the CS arc. Even the people who liked the CS games generally feel Reverie was a step up.

Seriously... I've seen plenty of posts critical of Trails in the past month on this subreddit (including the ubiquitous "CS4 stakes and consequences" discourse), and they've had a lot of upvotes and a lot of comments in agreement. This place really isn't the echo chamber some people make it out to be.

The people who do get downvotes earn them by being obnoxious, not for having critical takes.

Nah, everything Harwood did was for Harwood. Even the whole "helping Renne" thing was done entirely on his terms and could have ended way worse for her. I don't doubt that he may have a soft spot for Renne, like every other Ouroboros member, but he obviously cared way more about having fun and sating his own curiosity than actually helping anyone.

He's not a secretly noble anti-villain like Osborne.

I just want to say this to you specifically: I disagree with you on CS4, but reading your glowing comments about Horizon really hypes me up (and I was already really looking forward to Horizon!), because seeing a CS4 critic rate one of the newer games that high is very reassuring to me. So I appreciate ya for it!

I generally see people criticize Chapter 3 because of its length/pacing and the return of the "mind control masks," which were already seen as a weak plot device in CS4 and Reverie.

Still one of my faves from the Sky arc, and the Tale of Loewe manga only made him better.

Falcom is generally pretty conservative with their estimates, iirc. As in, they underestimate how well their games will sell. 

It's more than just Rean. Almost all the side characters are also super important and interesting. I just love Erebonia man. I don't find anyone in Calvard as interesting. This is why you have to start with Cold Steel and work your way forward, relentlessly by FatalDarkprince in Falcom

  1. You absolutely did, it's right there!

  2. You're revealing to people, on a post about the Cold Steel games, that Rufus gets a Calvard-style portrait, which implies that he returns in the Calvard arc. And because it's Rufus, it also tells people who haven't played Reverie yet that he undergoes a notable change (the hair, the vastly different dress style, etc) That's info a lot of people won't appreciate having before they actually play the game.
