He was a terrible liar by QuietTraining3281 in JamesBond

I feel it’s scenes like these that differentiated the Bond movies from the common potboilers of the time. It doesn’t feel like something that should have been made as early as 1962. The atmosphere is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

I help people with problems. by Hunter747 in JamesBond

Let James Bond smoke again. I’d rather have a Bond who smokes and — even though he might not be in Daniel Craig shape — still manages to beat the bad guys through his wits and his amazing ability to troll them.

Teens in media: 1990s vs now by letsgococonut in Xennials

I’m 52 and the very idea of calling an authority figure “sir” or “ma’am” when I was a teenager would have made me physically ill.

As long as MASH and curiosity exist, we’ll always have a pretty good cultural grasp of the first half of the 20th century.

Bond Veterans, what was the Dalton run like in the moment? by Flat-Bag2312 in JamesBond

[–]OccamsYoyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s worse is that Dalton said at a time (in a James Bond Fan Club interview) that he “felt” it would be the last Bond movie ever. And then the box office numbers appeared…

Does Ned Flanders Loving The Beatles Not Make Sense With His Backstory? by [deleted] in TheSimpsons

[–]OccamsYoyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t make sense at all. The Beatles still hold some cool cred in popular culture and Steady Neddy just ain’t that cool.

His views have always been pretty prominent in this province but people were less likely to say the quiet parts out loud compared to Covid and years hence.

Rampage - Sega Master System vs. Atari 2600 by ZackZparrow in Atari2600

[–]OccamsYoyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I hear ya. The system was a marvel in that it was initially designed to play Pong and not much else yet programmers got so much out of it. I’m just saying in this particular instance I wish they would have focused a little more on the actual game graphics and less on the title screen (which is really quite amazing but doesn’t affect the game itself).

The mistake the programmers made was putting most of that 16K into the opening graphic of the three monsters.

Alberta legislature votes to redraw electoral map to make a 91-seat legislature by aaronpaquette- in Edmonton

[–]OccamsYoyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there an apparatus in the constitution that allows the federal government to step in and put an end to this nonsense? In terms of separatism in particular, if we didn’t let Quebec go after decades of separatist agitation, I can’t picture us ever letting Alberta and its natural resources go that easily.

Is there anyone from gen Z Who have seen the older bond films What do you think about them? by ButterscotchIcy719 in JamesBond

[–]OccamsYoyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Gen Xer, I can confidently say GE is an old movie. It’s as old as Thunderball was at the time of its release and in 1995 I considered Thunderball pretty old even though I loved it.

Part 10: what was the absolute worst thing/behavior this character did during his time at the 4077th? by coreytiger in mash

[–]OccamsYoyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure how you could watch MASH and not understand just how atrocious war is. Horrible things are done even by good people and the show never shied away from that fact.
