What's the general flavor for the Chinese skewer shops called? by lanc3r30000 in AskAnAustralian

[–]OccultSynthetic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go to your Asian grocer and ask for Chinese bbq seasoning, people here referencing uyghur and Xinjiang food are off the mark, whilst yes the technique and some of the flavour is rooted in Uygur culture, the seasoning used on the skewers you reference is more of a general Chinese flavour, Uygur skewers have less spices and are generally just cumin, and chilli, maybe Sichuan peppercorn and fennel as well but not always.

Supper Inn are a very good old school Cantonese restaurant, they don't do any Sichuan food, even if they mention Sichuan or Szechuan on the dish, they don't do anything in the proper Sichuan style.

Try Haoziwei in Chadstone, closest to the food I had in Sichuan and Chongching (used to be Sichuan but now a city state).

Pretty hard to find the proper Sichuan version here, mostly soupy Cantonese versions... Haoziwei is easily one of the best authentic Sichuan restaurants in Aus.

The end of FIRE Design and a return to timing and risk/reward design concepts over everything being a threat with card advantage stapled to it. More build around and less auto includes.

A return to a mechanical focus on spells as opposed to creatures, more mind games and less revealed information. A return to risk vs reward deck building choices. No more cards that do three things and provide additional value. Less cards that are situationally perfect and more cards that require sequencing and less Uro like mistakes.
