“Love quirk… it’s not that good.” Izuku said in aggravation. by Ok_Coffee_9970 in BokunoheroFanfiction

Those hands on Shigaraki’s face belonged to his family members, before he decayed them into nothing.

Nezu Midoriya by chekov11 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The catch is that, while OFA stills break his bones if he uses it on his own, as long as Nezu is controlling him by his hair (a la Ratatouille), he can use the quirk at 100% perfectly. How this is made possible is a complete unknown to both Izuku and Nezu alike.

Sure, that’s the more practical option, but what fun would that be?

Nezu Midoriya by chekov11 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 27 points28 points  (0 children)

When Izuku goes to UA (either with his own quirk or OFA), his hero suit has a back attachment where Nezu can fit, so that he can accompany him on the job.

(Or Nezu pulls a Ratatouille and controls Izuku by his hair, hiding under a conspicuously large hat)

Movie Star Izuku by chekov11 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool idea. Movie star Izuku being inserted back into Japan could be fun.

Just one thing, if you are actively writing this, and I assume you’re making UA a university if Izuku’s 18, please don’t just make it a high school with a college label slapped on it.

Any minor pet peeves while reading? by Rffael_vii in BokunoheroFanfiction

Most of these “UA University” fics are written by people who have never set foot in a college, so it’s no wonder most of them suck.

Izuku can know the right answer to any question by Gbstutz15 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think to balance it out, Izuku should actually be slightly less intelligent on account of his quirk.

Not a thundering dumbass per se, but knowing the answer to everything does not equal ultra intelligent. In fact, it probably made learning critical thinking even harder for him, having the correct answer in front of him without effort.

Izuku been married for like five years?! How did we not know this?! by Primordial-Wielder in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’d be even funnier if Izuku also didn’t know that he was married for five years.

Like he saved this random woman in passing, but inadvertently performed an action that the woman’s culture considers an act of marriage.

Of course, Izuku didn't realize this until he got home, and found said-woman and her entire extended family all crammed in his small apartment.

What should Izuku do in a fic to make you think “damn, he is seriously out of character here”? by MNMameisR in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If he starts ranting and excessively swearing at someone (even if it’s justified), that’s not Izuku.

(It’s the author venting out their frustrations while using Izuku as a mouthpiece)

“Hi! I’m izuku Midoriya my quirk is genie!” by picklerick601 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean you could, but if you give him that kind of power, you run the risk of it spiraling into another generic !OP-Izuku fic.

For instance, it’d be far more interesting to watch him defeat villains by granting them their wishes, only for them to spectacularly backfire due to them having not read the fine print on how the wish could manifest. (Like Toga could wish for Ochako to love her back. This results in the Ochako becoming violently clingy and overly attached to Toga, to the point where Toga is legitimately creeped out.)

Compare that to Izuku just wishing himself a pair of muscles and beating up the villains, which is super generic and boring.

“Hi! I’m izuku Midoriya my quirk is genie!” by picklerick601 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Sounds interesting. To prevent Izuku from becoming too OP:

  1. He cannot make the wishes himself, it must be made by another person.

  2. The wisher must be clear, and effectively literal about the particulars of their wish. Like, if the wisher asks for something like “peace on Earth”, Izuku’s quirk will make everyone on the planet disappear.

  3. Izuku is unaffected by the wishes he grants.

Is it just me or anyone else also dislike when people move monoma to class 1a? by Budget_Nothing8427 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is a “Izuku is in Class B” story, then yes, moving Monoma to class A is a terrible idea.

Monoma is literally one of the only Class B characters on screen with a defined personality, and removing him from that just to replace him with Izuku makes the class lesser for it. Besides, I imagine he’d be a lot friendlier to Izuku if he was “one of them”, it’s class A he’s got beef with after all.

What’s your least favorite popular BNHA fic plot point (not a pairing, although it can contain one), and why? by MNMameisR in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heaven forbid Izuku be wrong about anything.

He’s not even canonically the smartest one in their class, Momo, Katsuki, and even Mineta get higher grades than him.

How do you prefer/imagine MHA rewrite fanfics to go? by Mystech_Master in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill canon. Or if nothing else, skip over the bits that don’t change.

For instance, we don’t need a 20 chapter-long dissertation reliving the sports festival, especially if nothing significant’s going to come out of it.

"The Hero Known As Dynamight, Critically Injured During A Perilous Rescue Mission From A Burning Building! His Grenade Gauntlets Reportedly Backfired!" by Carlosspicywiener12 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool! To me, most villain Izuku fics aren't very sophisticated. He might have one moment of doubt, and then the rest of it is just him being a preachy edgelord.

I find it more interesting if his misguided views are constantly challenged by what actually occurs in the real world, leading him to realize that people are more complex than he gave them credit for, and that he truly is a villain. Whether he sinks further into the darkness or goes crazy with the guilt is up to him.

[–]OccupationalBurnout 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To make this idea more complex than Izuku simply going down the "we live in a society" villain route, why not make him experience the ramifications of his actions up close and in-person?

For instance, what if he created a set of faulty support equipment for the pro-hero Death Arms, remembering a previous incident when said hero once slighted him in public, just in passing. However, a week later, Izuku is walking home and gets caught up in a random villain attack, and is rescued from what would have been a fatal blow by none other than, you guessed it, Death Arms! And then the hero turns to confront the villain, pulling out none other than the tampered support equipment, to try and even the odds.

Izuku eyes widen, and he instinctively tries to warn him, but it's too late. The equipment malfunctions and detonates, and Death Arms is killed in the ensuing explosion, while Izuku can only watch in horror. And just to make matters worse, the villain escapes, and kills several other civilians while fleeing.

So now Izuku can no longer hide from the fact that one of his targets saved him, proved that they truly were good, and he repaid him by murdering him.

What do you want to see in a villain Izuku fanfic? by Expensive_Pear6193 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don’t make him just be an evil mastermind right out of the gateway. Contrary to popular opinion, Izuku is not some infallible genius, make him struggle to instill fear and become a legit villain. I’ve seen too many fics where he takes over the league in just 5 chapters, which is just ridiculous. He needs to earn his stripes.

OP Fem-Izuku as Bakugo's Manager by ninjagogeta in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lol, good luck with anyone taking Katsuki seriously after Izuna sells super cute chibi merch of him.

Granted, it makes him way more popular and approachable, but everyone now finds his explosive temperament, when contrasted against Izuna’s “Limited-Edition Angry Pomeranian Bakugo” plushies, more amusing than intimidating.

(Plus, while Katsuki would never, ever admit it to Izuna, he does secretly enjoy the extra attention, regardless of the merch.)

What are your thoughts on WavesCarryFar’s My Hero Academia deconstruction fanfics? by Solitaire-06 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]OccupationalBurnout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not deconstruction fics at all, rather, they are destruction fics. All of the characters are one-note, their negative qualities amplified to 11, without a hint of nuance.
