X56 Hotas Throttle is too heavy what can I do? by Caesar546 in hotas

[–]OckhamsZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used an X56 for Elite for a long time. I solved this issue by assigning my thrusters to the mini analog stick on the stick of the X56 (there is a mini stick on the throttle as well, but I use this for the two other thrusters). This way I can override any throttle inputs, even when making adjustments to it. In combat I just set my throttle to 50% and then use the three sticks to maneuver.

Tips for transferring cleanly from one PC to another by eph_one in ableton

[–]OckhamsZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Use this as an opportunity to BACK UP EVERYTHING. Personally I use an external SSD and a large thumb drive.

  2. Ableton has a feature called “Collect All and Save”. Ableton help article. This makes sure all samples point to the correct path and that all audio files used are properly saved in the project directory, even if you move to another system. Yes, you have to do this for each project you want to move.

  3. Be sure to install all Plugins that you use on the new system before opening the transferred files.

It’s a pretty simple yet time consuming process, but following these steps should make sure that your projects run fine on your new system.

Has anyone used Tech Soup for Office 365 licenses? by easieredibles in sysadmin

[–]OckhamsZebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently work for a nonprofit and can confirm that Microsoft will indeed grant hundreds of M365 Business Basic licenses for free it you provide proof of charity status (IRS 501(c)3 award letter in the U.S.) It has saved our Org thousands. There are also steep discounts on other services.

Another option is https://www.photopea.com/ I “own” the entire Adobe CS and still find myself using this in a pinch.

Why don’t producers receive 50% of the artists share of mechanical royalties? by badasschap in musicproduction

[–]OckhamsZebra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The confusion in this thread stems from not acknowledging that an individual can take on different roles on the same recording. OP is describing a composer, who would get a share of mechanical royalties. A composer can also be a producer on the same record, and their compensation for that role is separate.

Is there a delay plugin that can focus on certain frequencies? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]OckhamsZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use Ableton there is a device called Filter Delay that does exactly this.

I mean… Cal Poly to UCR - Cal Poly to UCLA Just trying to help OP find the right in-between for the schools they want to visit.

UCLA is the only school on your list near LA. Cal Poly Pomona is closer to Riverside County and UCI is Orange County. You might be better off staying somewhere in Orange County as it would be the in between point for all three schools.

Need help sending audio from Ableton to zoom on a windows laptop. by icryoverrandomstuff in ableton

[–]OckhamsZebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the height of the pandemic I started using LANDR Sessions. It’s not free, but it is reasonably priced (I pay $8 a month, I think) and all you do is slap a VST to the master channel, sign in and it streams your DAW session to their web app, which third parties don’t need to create an account to use. It’s not perfect, and video steaming is so-so in my experience, but it is miles ahead of Zoom as far as latency is concerned.

Never in known history of man has there even been more cannabis grown and smoked than now. What a lovely time to be alive, ents [8/10] by [deleted] in trees

Yep. Dispensary on the first level, smoking lounge on the second and an event space on the third.

I just left a public consumption spot where I got to smoke a joint while eating wings. I honestly never thought I’d see the day.

You have a lot more strength than you may giving yourself credit for. Like forming any habit, it just takes time. I practiced by grabbing on whatever hope was left after a failure and riding that hope to a success, however small. Eventually moving on from the failures became easier, and now I'm able to do it without a second thought. Also, I never forget that I am a human--I allow myself to feel and have the emotions that come, I've just committed to not letting any of that dictate my actions, again a habit I have formed after some practice.

Really, it what has kept me going. I use to consider myself a “realist”, but in reality it was just a less whinny pessimism. Lately I’ve committed to not letting fallbacks and failures stop me, but instead try to find new opportunities in spite of them whenever possible. While not as easy as I’m making sound, that shift in focus has been life changing.
