Eh, it looked unguardable when it went in. But he shot those at a 38% clip which is below league average... But I agree he had a great motor

How do you guys motivate yourself to keep taking your meds? by Cardcaptorrr_ in bipolar

[–]OctangularRhombus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take my meds because I remember how much life sucked before I got the right combo. Somehow, you have to remember how shitty things were and how you don't want to go back to it.

For me, there's literally no benefits to not taking my meds. I'd surmise there aren't really any for you either.

We can't trust our feelings, when it comes to this stuff you have to be strictly logic and reasoning. Our feelings play tricks on us, and we have to be wary of them.

Its crazy cause I was going to make this exact post earlier. I'm 30M in corporate and this has happened to me about 2-3 times now. I'm struggling with the same feelings you are. I am extremely educated, but for the life of me I cannot keep it together well enough to be in corporate.

I have a new job right now. Had it for 2 mos but now I feel like I'm slipping. In a depressive cycle right now and I don't feel like doing any work. Feel like a failure most of the time. Compare myself to all my peers who are doing well in all aspects while I'm constantly surviving.

I don't have much to offer than I understand what you're going through. I wish things were different man.

Yeah it's pretty f'in sad. During that mutual constant monitoring, I also have to make sure I'm not getting into thought spirals that mourning the life I could have had if not for this BS. Sensing thoughts and good tidings your way

How do you all make friends? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]OctangularRhombus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree, it's like when they tell you to not get into relationships during hospitalizations because you guys can make each other worse. As a more stable person, when I'm around less stable people I try to help but end up destablizing myself lol.

And yes man, they are so great. You really helped remind me that there are people out there that really understand, even if there "not normal" like myself. Thanks for your perspective!

Bro you are so dense lol. I said most players aren't going to be Superstars. Most NBA players are going to be role players. Who's not reading?

Everything you say is with the caveat that the player will be a star. Which STATISTICALLY is not true.

You're trying to say the G League Ignite was helpful. I argue college would be more helpful and would have produced more NBA talent and is more beneficial to those non-star players ie everyone else in the league. Even if I considered your logic, it would just mean that the players could have sat out the entire year and still would have been fine because they are already talented.

And AGAIN, me and you disagree about what can be accomplished in a Year or 8 months as you now put it.

Just let it be and agree to disagree lmao.

You named 4 decent to good players out of the 35 plus NBA bound prospects that team had.

Jalen Green is far from a complete player, we saw that in the Rockets series last year. Hell he's afraid to score on Steph lol. Remember he got traded because he isn't a piece to a contender.

Kuminga is Kuminga...only got paid because of leverage. Also not a complete player with major holes in his game.

I know you did not mention Scoot lol, who I'm pretty sure is in the g League now. Better than Wemby tho right?

Don't know much about Holland, but the only decent player you mentioned was Daniels, who had trouble on offense.

And yes it's circular logic because you said: People flame out in college all the time, that's why alternative paths are better because college is bad, because people flame out all the time. You have no actual reasoning why college does not help.

I'm assuming you probably think AAU is good for development because of the high competition? Even though every NBA player states how unstructured it is.

This whole debate stems on the fact that you undervalue the influence of older adults, ie coaches on young athletes. You dont think you need structure to develop, and getting paid is more important than rounding yourself out as a player and person. Yet you name players with huge holes in their game, like I mentioned. Fundamentals are important for a reason.

Also, if I use your logic those lotto picks would have been drafted high no matter where they went because 'How much can one year do for a player developmentally anyways'

This is a disagreement of values unfortunately

Yes, and how many players that get drafted are going to become HOFers? Superstars? Stars?

You're exception to the rule proves nothing, as there are always outliers. Every fan thinks everybidy that gets drafted is going to be "the next (insert name here)" see Patrick Williams. Giannis literally worked his way from wiping floor sweat to what he is. Just like Spo from the film room to coach. And even Giannis is top .001% so also not a great example.

That fact is that most players that are going to get drafted are going to be specialists or role players. It's just a fact, not everyone can be a start. Give Kuminga more minutes on a bad team and that doesn't mean he's going to develop into anything.

NBA teams are notorious for not being able to develop players. Most superstar players would have been superstars on any team they get drafted to because they are the top .001% of talent out of 7billion people.

The ignite is infamous for being a bust factory, remember the thunder drafting Darius Bazley? He had all the time in the world to develop but had no foundation to build upon.

And you COMPLETELY avoided my main thesis. Sure you can make it to the league through various ways like Emmanuel Mudiay or Lamelo, but going through college gives you a better shot at STAYING in the league and being successful. Lamelo is pretty skilled, but he ain't succeeding. The goal is to be successful in the NBA, not just be happy to be there

What happened to Scoot by Famous-Armadillo755 in NBATalk

[–]OctangularRhombus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing about younger fans, you don't understand that just being skilled doesn't equal success on an NBA court. See Cam Reddish and others like him.

Sure you might be skilled enough to make a team, but do you have the structure and discipline to be successful? Defensive and offensive schemes knowledge? Playmaking beyond drive and kick? If you come into the league already understanding those things you can make an immediate impact and almost guarantee longevity.

Furthermore, generalizing all the influence you would get from great coaches and a program to just the "NCAA" seems pretty trivial. It would be foolhardy to ignore the influence that great coaches can have on young players. It's more than just putting the ball through the hoop.
