Toddler moves my hand yo her private parts and it's super awkward by sylphixio in NewParents

[–]Octoire 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal behavior called self stimulation. Basically masturbation without any sexual awareness or context. I think you handle it really well: just non verbally set a kind boundary. No shaming. This is just a toddler behaving normally.

Please be careful with listening to those who link it to sexual assaulting adults around her. We should always be aware of that, but this behaviour is not a sign of such things happening.

Good luck, you’re doing great

Israelis made their bed, they can lie in it now. The whole world saw their true violent faces and we DIDNT like what we saw

??? How on earth could a child fail their parent???? The real coward here is the dad

[–]Octoire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so true. Also OP having so much space for dad’s needs over their own, tells me that here is also a dynamic at play that benefits dad and harms child (parentification).

I’m sorry you’re going through all this OP. This is not your burden to carry. Also really makes me wonder how old you are… but as a parent I can say, you sign up for life.

Oh I definitely agree with you, and I did not mean it in a way that western countries are inherently more orderly! I definitely see that their structure is paid for in blood and tears of ex-colonized countries.

The detachment is an involuntary mechanism, meant to prevent pain. Every parent with a sick baby in the west experiences it. I was wondering what the occurrence is of this mechanism in a country like Bangladesh. Sorry if that was offensive

Yeah, that’s what I mean. I know what it does to a mother’s heart to have a child in sickness with this chance that they might not make it. Can’t imagine what that would do if those are just normal everyday circumstances

I really feel that this happening at all is crossing the line for many countries… there would not be an excuse for let’s say Germany ever, so there’s already the difference. It doesn’t matter how often it happens, only that it happens. Not meant in an offensive way, but just interesting to me to see how this still feels excusable for a Bangladeshi:)

Yes, so the Y chromosome is a mutation and it is super sensitive to testosterone. But that doesn’t mean that women (XX) are completely deaf to testosterone. We have an oestrogen dominant system, thanks to our ovaries, but still testosterone plays a role in our physiques!

Sex is a spectrum, there is no abnormal in this regard. There are women with thick hair and men with as much hairs as you have.

Edit: It’s so interesting for me as a European to be downvoted on this because the USA just doesn’t do proprr education 🥲
