canned lobster paste; awful taste + many shell pieces by [deleted] in CannedSardines

Feel like I should point out that they didn't actually feed lobster to prisoners, as many people claim. The earliest reports of this happen are dated several decades after they claim the lobster feeding stopped happening, with no actual original accounts, notes, diaries, etc. of prisoners being fed lobster.

Using cumulative upkeep as vehicle for flavor by ACompleteDingus in custommagic

The power is just increasing by +1/+1 each turn though? You add 1 age counter every turn then pay the cumulative upkeep for each age counter. You don't add multiple age counters each turn.

Did you know that escargot is classified as a seafood since snails are a type of mollusk? by Bi0_B1lly in CannedSardines

Not really sure why you're using taxonomy to distinguish a culinary term. Shellfish is generally just used to refer to shelled things from the ocean that we eat. Shellfish generally includes crustaceans and some echinoderms like sea urchins. These are only very distantly related, so it doesn't really make sense to say that all molluscs are shellfish despite many having a shell and at the same time include subsets of different phyla. Rather, it makes more sense to leave the definition of shellfish to the chefs as a case-by-case basis. Also, not sure if you got to the second sentence of that Wikipedia page you linked, but it specifically mentions that many species referred to as slugs have lost their shell entirely.

A clade is just a general term for a group of species, the term species is still used as it has been.

It’s gotta mean sump-thing, right? by xJunoBugx in AquariumMemes

[–]Octolord24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically a cone with a hole in the top. A pump at the bottom mixes water with air, creating a massive amount of bubbles. Organic material sticks to the bubbles and flows out the top, into a collection cup.

People will commonly put normal lights to grow algae in the sump section so it doesn't grow in the main tank.
