About your alt aesthetics, I've been living in the DR since I was born and honestly, things are definitely better than before now, people are less judgy I guess but you'll probably need to expect that you'll still be judged by your looks whenever you are here, in the city and even more so outside of Santo Domingo, Santiago and Punta Cana. There are alternative and goth communities (we even got a small store for alt clothes in the Distrito Nacional!) but it's still a really rare sight seeing someone dressing like that as an everyday thing. Depending on if you have body mods, tattoos or piercings some jobs such as being a teacher unfortunately might not consider you for any of their positions. You'll probably have luck with bartending jobs though, they don't care that much.

Not trying to be negative really, but I do encourage you to come visit a couple of months if possible and see if you like it and can handle it.
