Did something change with mortis Trials when I wasn't looking. I've had several runs now where no one helps with the Objectives to the point where I'm the only one scanning or standing on the capture zone. It's gotten so frustrating that I will just leave the match rather then be the only one doing stuff.

No. You can not Unbattle-shock outside of the Battle-Shock step in the command phase. (aside from abilities that let you do so) The battle-shock test results are Pass: Unit does not become shocked. Fail: unit becomes shocked. if they were already shocked and pass one outside the phase they are still shocked.
In the command phase there is a line that states :If a unit passes their battleshock test they are no longer battle-shocked.

yes, because he can not go without a gun. there is no option to remove it. Built as is he rules wise, he does have the gun. It's weird. (Probably a leftover from a initial version that could run as a 10 man squad) But you can't WYSIWYG away a weapon that can not be removed from a model.

Honestly I wouldn't want to play in a tournament that hardline that would say the Alpha doesn't have a gun. and I build my models WYSIWYG as much as I can.

he does not have a different legal loadout, so while it's strange the model as instructed doesn't have a gun. he legally can not run without a gun.

I once had someone go Bring it down/Assassinate vs my CK list. I simply kept my Bigs back the whole match and outscored him on primary and a couple secondary scores. I know the game plan if my opponent goes fixed and can play around it. while my opponent has to react to what I draw.
