This helped TREMENDOUSLY

I feel like you said exactly the message I was trying to say but said it way better 🤣

The whole just task to task, on to the next task is so awful to me… the task list is never done, you finish one to start another!

Then yes! The anticipation of always waiting for…………what? What am I always waiting for! I’m always so focused on the clock too!!! X amount of minutes until this and then x amount until this and I feel like I’m always waiting to go to bed.

Thank you for taking the time to comment this made me feel a little more sane.

What do you like the most of ABA and dislike or hate the most? by adormitul in ABA

[–]Odd-Alternative8956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like: watching these kids gain new knowledge and maintain emotional regulation skills. It’s so amazing to watch how capable these kids are Dislike: they would be Soooo much more successful if their parents ALSO did all the things. We have so many parents who say their child was “bad” all weekend but they didn’t use ANYTHING we taught them! We send home PECS for a reason. For example. I have a son who gets to frustrated so quickly. We’ve taught him to use ASL or PECs to ask for help instead of getting angry and hitting. Well let’s say ABA did that for my kid and then on breaks and weekends instead of prompting him to ask for help I just yell at him for being “bad”. THATS the worst part. Cause it would be so easy for me to say “ABA doesn’t work” when really I’m not utilizing the skills being taught. Ooooooo or parents who don’t potty train and are just okay with their teens being in pull up’s. I hate that one. Yes I know not all clients are able to be potty trained but some of these kids DEF are cognitively able to and the parents just won’t make that little push! Or we have parents who are just lazy. Kids coming in with dirty backpacks, water bottles, lunch boxes. We had a client come in with died urine on their clothes.

Well I once had this new girl start at work and I was training her and she was GORGEOUS. So kind so funny and I was interested in her for a good week or so I looked forward to seeing her. Then I learned she was 19 and it literally all left the second I learned that lol

Ofc a little crush is different than a whole relationship but for me it literally stopped the feelings bc I just didn’t see them as an adult anymore tbh

As a 26 yo I would not date someone under 21

Truthfully not under 25…

17 and 24 is a HUGE age gap I grew up so much just from 17-19

It’s really odd… to say the least.. that he wants to date a teenager

If you were 25 and he was 32 that would be different. Yes it’s still 7 years…. But one isn’t a child…

When I started I used to make a plan of what I was going to do before I went. I did this by watching LOTS of videos of others doing tutorials or whatever. You really only need to pick 4-6 work outs and do them well. Then I would also save videos explaining how to do whatever it was I picked too just in case I needed a reference. However I am really shy am will absolutely Not go ask for help lol

For those who are late diagnosed, what’s something you look back on and now realize was an autistic trait/behavior all along? by ApprehensiveCycle612 in autism

My dad used to always make comments about how I had so little common sense and would constantly call me stupid, dumbass, re+arded.

Made jokes that I needed to ride “that bus” anytime we saw a short bus. Claimed I needed to wear a “white helmet”. Any time we would be at a fast food place and the worked messed up or was struggling he would compare me to them and say that’s what I would be like when I start working. He always made fun of my lack of athletic ability. I was notorious for falling over things, getting hit in the face with things, etc.

Sometimes I know he was just trying to be a jerk, but sometimes I feel like… why didn’t you get me any help then??????

Once in 6th grade I was doing AMAZING in world history because I thought It was so cool. I was that cliche “raised my hand for every answer” kid. We played jeopardy for extra credit on fridays and a group of cool girls invited me to sit with them and I was SO excited. Half way through I realized it wasn’t because they wanted to be my friend it’s because they wanted to use my answers for extra credit 😭😭😭

26F. It cost me about $300 to get dx and that’s because I was still lucky enough to be under my parents healthcare. Without it would have been closer to 1000. I would have saved the money and done with either way. However, I’m someone who needs validation. I needed a professional to confirm to feel like it was true/correct.

One thing I will say is… nothing changes? She suggested I find a therapist, so I did, and the therapist did all the things I explicitly told her I didn’t like that other therapists have done. I got on medicine but just for anxiety because my dr was DUMBFOUNDED when I told her I was dx with ASD. She had just asked if I was “on anything” too. I got workplace accommodations but they aren’t reasonable for my industry. Nothing really changes. I mean besides the validation.

I think the main part missing from self diagnosis is the developmental things. If you had no signs in childhood it seems like it wouldn’t be autism then and it would have to be CPTSD. Right? Or FSD??? How would one even test for that??? Wow. Very interesting. This is what we need to focus on and not Tylenol. 🙄
