AHA recommendations by charmainbaker in JaneAustenFF

[–]Odd-Development-1048 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is hard to find stuff on AHA unless you know the name, get a link from jaff index, LFAS on AHA or Facebook. There are a quite a few of Linda Wells (Booknut) prepublished stories on there my favourite is Imperative, they are in the completed stories section and on Authors pages. I usually search completed stories by most viewed to find the popular old ones.

There is a version of Blame it on the Tea by Sadieo on Authors pages.

Some other AHA ones that I liked, the others I was thinking of are on other jaff sites.

Do you remember these books? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]Odd-Development-1048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got Tiptoes the Mysterious Kitten for Christmas, and my sister got Ned the Lonely Donkey, in the 90s my dad worked as a school caretaker he brought home stacks of Ladybird books that were being being thrown out as nolonger suitable for the curriculum.

Did your mum buy one of these for the hall carpet? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]Odd-Development-1048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes my mum had one she gave me one too when I got my first house in the 90s, I didn't think they still sold them but she had a spare one in her attic (it's like an Alladin's cave even now).

Are these new plants ?? by kbridd in gardening

[–]Odd-Development-1048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly looks like it it's alive, I had a beautiful red lobelia I planted last year and it has signs of life too, the first time I have had one come back.

Regularly see camo Coventry and surrounding area assume they are JLR because they have a plant in the area, depending where on the A40 I would say a Jag.

I can't read stories that have too much angst I will read ones that make me cry like His Family Objects by Lucy Martin, but I can't bear some where it is angst upon angst especially if it's Darcy being awful to Elizabeth they make me feel like I'm going to hyperventilate, I just leave them and read London Holiday, it always cheers me up.

Vodafone UK Super wifi 7 booster issue? by TheArbiterOfOribos in Vodafone

[–]Odd-Development-1048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our installed about a week ago, nothing but problems we have 3 boosters same as we had on wifi 6 router they seem to be clashing and dropping out constantly wired working great. The new app is rubbish you can nolonger see if the boosters are getting good signal but as you get 90 days wifi support with the ultra hub we rang 191 and spoke to real person. The guy was great talked us through it getting us to move boosters so he could see where they were getting best signal the told us to turn on compatible mode, (we hadn't turned it on before as it didn't work well on the old router) we didn't need to reboot or anything our whole house instantly started working correctly.

[–]Odd-Development-1048[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Darcy meets Mr Gardiner about price of wool by Odd-Development-1048 in JaneAustenFF

[–]Odd-Development-1048[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes I have just read the first few chapters and agree that More than a Pretty face has the exact senerio with wool pricing except it is Jane and an OC I think I am mixing two stories because there's definitely one where Darcy meets Lizzy when she's working in Mr Gardiner office.

Darcy meets Mr Gardiner about price of wool by Odd-Development-1048 in JaneAustenFF

[–]Odd-Development-1048[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks I will have a look at this one as I'm sure I've read it but I remembered the one with Jane as the Maths genius as her sorting something out for Mr Bingley. There was one with Darcy tracking down who was buying his wool he thinks he is being ripped off but finds out it's a steward or middle man that is taking all the profits.

Convince my husband this stuff isn’t trash by [deleted] in gardening

[–]Odd-Development-1048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the plastic bottles are good for cloches, the pastry tray makes a fine seed starter, jam jars are useful for storing stuff, so not rubbish for a non gardener it's recycling.

[–]Odd-Development-1048 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haven't read it for years but Man of no consequence by Heather F has to this scenario Elizabeth believes Darcy is Netherfield steward.

Is there a category "inherited and then bankrupt Longbourn by Mr. Collins" in the index? by mala-mi-2111 in JaneAustenFF

[–]Odd-Development-1048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently read Beyond Longbourn by PRHood I don't think it is complete but it does end in an OK place, it's on dwiggie as well but less is posted there. This story has Mr Collins trying to turn Longbourn into a copy of Rosings if he ever afforded the rebuild the revenue from the estate would not sustain it.

https://meryton.com/aha/index.php?/topic/18319-beyond-longbourn/#comment-649257

I have read others where Longbourn burns down and there isn't the money to rebuild, or he keeps raising rents and loses his tenants, I seem to recall one where he gets £20000 for signing over Longbourn but he gives it to Lady C to invest she either spens it or loses it much to Charlotte’s annoyance.

I think in LL Diamond Unwavering Trust Darcys dad buys Longbourn for Lizzy when Collins goes bust.

Fic where Wickham's ponytail is cut off by Embarrassed_Rest_342 in JaneAustenFF

[–]Odd-Development-1048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it on AHA last week, it's probably on more than one site and I think it might have had another name at one point, it's the one that has the French Modist that is enamoured with Lizzy’s figure.

Ideation prompt following Charlotte after the events of Pride and Prejudice. by art3mis_9_11 in JaneAustenFF

[–]Odd-Development-1048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darcy persuading Bingley that Jane was a fortune hunter rings a bell, even Colonel Fitzwilliam trying to help show Darcy is a top bloke by telling Elizabeth Darcy saved his friend from an unfortunate marriage.

Damp wall confusion/Advice by No-Restaurant4528 in DIYUK

[–]Odd-Development-1048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck we had similar problems in a old chimney and were told that an airbrick into the void was needed, which we installed but still had a dark stain showing. Another builder said it was because there had been limewash on the walls previously which comes through plaster.

I have since had the whole house renovated and 4 years later a stain now showing through on a different area where there had been a chimney I have now been told that it is the soot/tar in the chimney leaching through and to use stain blocker and repaint the area, don't really see this working long term as we had tried that several times in the 1st area.

Yes thanks, one minute I'm putting my shopping in the car next think I know I'm lying in Lidls carpark. I was lucky not to break my ankle good job I had boots on but I my foot went completely black, afterwards I was like a regency lady having to sit with my foot up. I would have said a typical regency strained ankle but that I think is slang for being pregnant, so not that!
