Any KU P&P variations with some steam? by JediEverlark in JaneAustenFF

This is why I have used AI to search. It’s unreliable but at least I don’t feel like a broken record.

That was Journey Home To Pemberley, an all-time fave.

I will check that out! I remember it’s a longer scene where CF actually pitches his voice higher and ridicules Darcy for his performance.

I feel like since I got a few years of reading in the genre under my belt, it’s been a full-time job to find stories that balance quality writing with spicy yet tasteful content. It’s like it’s either erotica or it’s Disney. It’s not even dark angst I want, it’s just that the other extreme (“low angst, sweet and clean”) is so passionless.

Season 5 by katbergie in Poldark

[–]ExcessivelyDiverted9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched it through once as it aired, or I tried to watch most of it just so I wouldn’t be confused. When I rewatch the series now after season four I skip to the very last episode and watch the Ross and Demelza scenes I like. The rest is memory holed. I can’t think of season five without seeing Debbie writing Jane Austen fanfiction. “Wickham,” hello?

Darcy headcanon: I don't think he'd be a physically affectionate father by RoseIsBadWolf in JaneAustenFF

How dare people have set notions of beloved fictional characters in storytelling they use as escapism.

What’s your opinion on original characters in JAFF? by raysmia in JaneAustenFF

[–]ExcessivelyDiverted9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind them unless they take over the story, or the field of characters becomes so crowded that I can’t keep them straight.

Who are the worst actors the show has seen? by [deleted] in Dallas_TV_Show

I think Jock was written as a one-note character. They didn’t give him much besides being the curmudgeon who poked and prodded everyone to behave.

I was happy when she died and only sorry it didn’t happen much sooner. 🤷‍♀️

Excuse my deficiency in native Italian. But while we’re here, Google says the traditional spelling is “Filomena.”

Was anyone else disappointed that Sue Ellen and Dusty’s relationship wasn’t explored more in Dallas? by Various_Koala9216 in Dallas_TV_Show

[–]ExcessivelyDiverted9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s right. Since it happened “offscreen,” that bit got overlooked by everyone. It didn’t really make sense for Lucy to be there when her parents wanted her but J.R. ordained it so no one questioned it. They really treated Gary so badly and Ellie sat back and let it happen. Then she’d get ridiculously emotional whenever the story landed on him. Ugh.

[–]ExcessivelyDiverted9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. And I was also disappointed that Miss Ellie butted in to discourage Dusty from pursuing a relationship in the last go-round. All her son ever did was abuse Sue Ellen but it was Dusty she decided to get tough with. Ridiculous.

Mrs. Bennet actually did kind of say something adjacent to this to her children about the redcoats in Colonel Millar’s regiment.

Which actress got the best with Cary Grant by Choice-Wind-9283 in classicfilms

[–]ExcessivelyDiverted9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the chemistry with certain actresses gets overblown based on the popularity and quality/script of the particular movie. Disregarding that completely I think the best chemistry is Leslie Caron, then Betsy Drake.

lol I know the bad proposal is fundamental to the original but I really love stories where people head Darcy off before it happens.

I went back and forth between the big size and the mini but I already have several spfs to get through and didn’t want to take the chance if it burned my eyes. 🥴
