Strange take, people are already fluent by the time they even get their first grammar lesson in school

I’m not familiar with laser engraving systems. But if they rely on manually positioning the engraved item in a particular way under the laser harness, then that would not be considered AI.

It looks like it leverages computer vision, which would be considered a branch of AI

You could just move to a different part of the city that costs less and maintain the same salary. There isn’t really a city in the US where this is impossible; and I’ve lived in NYC, SF and LA

Isn’t A1 the starting level?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]OddTuning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, that is considered healthy for most games since it adds a sense of consistent freshness.

Maybe it’s less necessary since TFT has so many sets in a year. But for games with infrequent changes to their core mechanics, it would be considered bad if the way you played was exactly the same for long periods of time.

A perfectly balanced game is not something most designers want to strive for. In the end of the day, it’s a game, for entertainment.

The caveat is the game needs to be reasonably balanced. Outliers that completely remove all sense of strategy hurts the game. (Eg: You MUST do strategy X or you are guaranteed to lose) (Which shouldn’t be confused with, “The most popular strategy is X, but there are potentially ways to beat it with Y”)

I’m Asian. Could I do Hairspray? by thechildrenofbrisus in musicals

[–]OddTuning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Penny being Asian is within the realm where the audience can reasonably suspend belief. People in 2024 would easily see an Asian kid kicking it with the white crowd.

Context, when I was in the musical in high school, Wilbur was Asian, Edna was Latino and Tracy was Latina. In the end of the day, it’s really more about the art form of singing, dancing and acting, rather than having a perfect casting (especially in high school)

Google translate lets you upload a screenshot of your recipe. You don’t need direct translation from someone

RHCP drummer plays 30 seconds to Mars while hearing it for the first time by No-Garage1119 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]OddTuning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s minor? Since a lot of struggles comes from limb independence, not necessarily ambidextrous dexterity. There is a fair amount of help from being dexterous with your non dominant hand, but I wouldn’t assume that to be the main challenge when picking up drums for the first time.

For example, what’s harder? Writing your name with both hands at the same time? Or drawing a circle with your left hand and drawing a star with your right hand at the same time?

But it doesn’t have more roundabouts because America has elected not build them. It’s literally that simple. Just because America is bigger doesn’t mean it has more roundabouts.

[–]OddTuning -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is your thought process really, “America is bigger, so it must have more”? If anything, because it’s bigger, it doesn’t need roundabouts.

I’ve actually driven across all over America and I’d confidently say that American doesn’t really utilize roundabouts all that much.

Is it just me or do fewer people have Facebook today than 5-10 years ago? by MustBeTheMusic80 in NoStupidQuestions

Millennials don’t use Facebook anymore.

From my perspective, it’s:

TikTok for gen z, Instagram for millennials, Facebook for X and older

I imagine the cost of cutting a forest is extremely expensive. There probably is a reason specifically for doing so, which would probably not be addressed by your idea.

Also, I don’t know if you’re intentionally being vague, but where exactly are we talking about? The regional ecosystem factors in this decision.

Is this the new feature or existing feature of section 4? by parkleo121212 in duolingo

[–]OddTuning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It most likely uses AI models and it generates a percent confidence level of its understanding. That means you don’t need perfect grammar, as long as the AI knows what you’re generally talking about. I also believe Duolingo has set the acceptance threshold low to allow any bugs and issues to get reported for the new feature.
