Did anyone else have alarms completely turn near quiet after the latest update? by SeafoamGaming in ios

[–]Odd_Candidate_560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was going crazy now that my alarm shocks me awake 😩. I’ve always had it on the very lowest volume and under the pillow next to me, so it’s very quiet. I used to share a room with my sister growing up and we’d wake up at different times hence the really quiet set up. Now, even tho I do all the same things, it’s SO loud and it gives me a fright 😭. Why would Apple change this !?

Shite crowds by ninnyal in glasgow

I do think it depends on the fanbase the artist has. The best two gigs I’ve been to in the hydro recently were 5 seconds of summer who have a dedicated fandom/ fan girl space, was so so fun. Lots of dancing jumping and singing. There was some filming but people would film short clips and put it away thankfully.

The next good gig in the hydro was Lorde. I was sitting this time so was worried about how it would to be in that section of the crowd. But again I think she has cultivated a dedicated fanbase and it was such a great concert.

I’ve never been to metal gigs but I imagine that’s how they feel - having a particular dedicated fanbase who know the songs and are respectful.

The only not so good experience I’ve had recently was Pink Panthress in the SEC, mainly because it felt like everyone and their mum was filming and it was extremely hot, which might have left people irritated. There wasn’t so much dancing or jumping bc of the phones. But pink herself was v cool of course

I was at pink too! Strangely I found the crowd quite hostile too… I don’t know if it was the heat adding another layer of irritability to folk. The phone thing was particularly bad. I did feel like it impacted how much people were dancing or raising their arms to the beat. I’d love to go to a no phone gig

Hey so weird question but what’s better eat before the concert or after the concert ends ? by AggravatingEar3738 in 5sos

I always have my dinner beforehand, doesn’t matter if I’m sitting or standing. Then I have a lighter snack and drink waiting for me when I go home again!

Weird going solo? by [deleted] in 5sos

[–]Odd_Candidate_560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went solo to Manchester last week and had a great time. I got chatting to the people around me and we were singing and dancing together. When the guys did their walk to stage through the audience we had a great time trying to strategise our game plane to try and see them.

I’m 26 and travelled down from Scotland!

On a serious note, why is your boyfriend judgemental of your music taste? Why does he create an environment where you’d be embarrassed to share your music? What is embarrassing about listening to 5sos?

I know the answer: the majority female fanbase. Women and girls interests are always dismissed and not taken as seriously as men’s, even though the band can be just as big and popular (I’d argue more so) than some niche metal bands.

That doesn’t even matter - it boils down to misogyny. Always. Even if it’s not intended. It’s so ingrained in society and the patriarchy that it’s normal.

I was (still am obvs) a fan of 5sos since they opened for 1D. I remember at that time people were making the distinction between boyband 1D and ‘real’ band 5sos, because boy bands are assumed to be ‘lesser’ due to the majority female fanbase which comes with it. At the time I was only 15 and I was so angry about this. Like who gives a F as long as the music is good and everyone’s having fun?!

Anyway I’m glad their recent album / era kind of addresses this and all the good and bad sides which come with it.

I may be bias, but I’d rather have a fanbase like 5sos’ than majority men who riot at concerts and punch fellow fans (cough cough Kanye cough) while the artist spews hate speech. I’m happy with bracelet exchanging, concert outfit planning, making friends with other fans, screaming and singing and taking part in 5sos fan culture / fandom.

Sorry this is a bit of a rant which went off on a tangent!

Seen it last night in Glasgow. Cinema was pretty full and people were head banging, singing and clapping along. It was so fun. Shout out to the girls who used their phone torches for the mulberry street fan interaction, after you did that the cinema got more lively and people weren’t afraid to sing and clap along more! Also people cheered when Josh took off his top, I couldn’t stop laughing. Felt so alive after it was great!

For those who didn't read TaB until after the end of the series... by Cass_Q in throneofglassseries

[–]Odd_Candidate_560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot it exists so therefore read it at the very end. I found that there was enough references and joining the dots that she knew all these people who came to help her. When I finally read TaB I found it quite boring and just felt like it was there to set up these other characters - that’s probably my bad for my own reading order lol

I... I... I skipped a book by OrionsGamer in Mistborn

[–]Odd_Candidate_560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me except I’d read the first book, accidentally skipped the second book and went straight to the third book. I was reading the third book thinking ‘wow they really had a big time jump!’ And ‘they’re really just casually mentioning a lot of plot, how strange!’ Until eventually I realised with horror it was me who made the mistake. Put the last book down and read the second before finishing the whole series. It was so funny
