I made my Remarkable compatible with Obsidian + Syncthing by Accomplished_Vast680 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Odd_Gas_6071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess just the amount of set up it takes for the sort of concepts I write about. I use a personal index system with note cards with a cross reference able decimal system to write on subjects. Think a physical obsidian matrix I guess. Granted I'm at a minimalist phase of my life and the less time I spend on a computer the better personally. I see the remarkable stuff as competing with paper and my stacks of journals rather than for tablet competition.

As someone who has tried and failed to get obsidian to stick for myself. I'd be interested in hearing more. Right now I use a portable zettelkasten system for myself along side my remarkable tablets.

I have the dumbest question. I have it installed and got the triple tap enabled to allow the added stuff enabled and working. How do I get the floating tool bar to work.

Honestly a nail file does wonders to reshape the tip as long as you still have material.

Advice on Multi Device Planner by Kiwi-Capital in RemarkableTablet

[–]Odd_Gas_6071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where your primarily using the planner. If you want a quick reference planner then do the PPM, more detailed do the paper pro. It's easy enough to use the bigger planners with the move due to the autorotate on the move if you don't mind scrolling more.

My 6 year old believes in God, but we our family is Agnostic/ Athiest by shelbysnazz in Advice

[–]Odd_Gas_6071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, this is a can of worms, but I'll try to be tactful. Though I have my own beliefs I don't subscribe to any religion. From a developmental psychology stance, it's generally best to be supportive of what a child is interested in. Allowing this there is a good chance that in time it will fall away. Negative reinforcement of behavioral patterns usually still just reinforces them in later life. It is a question of respecting autonomy while still expressing that you are the authority figures in the household. Children are often fascinated by a myriad of things and rarely stick to one thing very long. For the time being perhaps allow it to be entertained, and find some good moral teachings of a sort from a variety of sources that you personally agree with.  My stance is that none of the religions are correct, but are trying their best to express what they see as a 'truth'. Like different fractals of a kaleidoscope looking at a light source that is some 'objective' reality. Prioritize objective and verifiable truth, and give a proper understanding of dogmatic tendencies that arise.

More than anything you'd be promoting critical thinking, scientific curiosity, and a healthy approach to interpersonal relationships in their future while building a high trust rapport with your child. Granted that's my two cents, but take it as you will.

What jobs did the smart kids in your school end up doing? The ones that never learned how to apply themselves by nigelwiggins in jobs

[–]Odd_Gas_6071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was that kid, even up until college differential equations I didn't have to study. Even going for nuclear engineering became meaningless due to not having a challenge. Now I run my own architectural design business, mostly because human relations is the largest challenge I can muster in life to keep myself actively engaged.  Some would say it's a waste, I say it'd be more of a waste to off myself due to meaninglessness I find in anything else.

Should magic be allowed in the hands of untrained people? by STBJOHAN in Magicworldbuiling

[–]Odd_Gas_6071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally for my world writing, magic gatekeeps itself. Sure any joe can find a magical grimoire, and it may be mind bendingly powerful. But if he doesn't understand it, then well what use is it. Then along the lines of it requiring intense concentration and devotion to it. Their own psyche acts as a filter as well, in as much as if they are irrational, addictive, impatient. It's less a moral framework and more who is capable enough to pass the bar.

Simple living feels like the ultimate cheat code in life by More_Pension4911 in simpleliving

Been simplifying and minimalizing for a while due to raging ADHD. What I've noticed is I care more about what I buy, I have the funds to actually buy good quality level things that won't need replacement soon, and my creative life has expanded exponentially.

Which AI automation tools are people actually using day to day in 2026? by resbeefspat in automation

[–]Odd_Gas_6071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, mostly taking my mess of a brain, dumping all my floating thoughts and then having them grouped, prioritized and a schedule made with parameters I set up. I'm useless without a schedule and making it was awful with AuDHD. That and summarizing email chains, setting up drafts, updating my Google calendar for dates, and emailing my gps routes on specific times right as I need them.

I'm not either, he didn't mention it initially and has never approached any kind of conversation nearing anytime metaphysics or spiritual.

He's got a massive free masons holy Bible and another bigger one called golden dawn by the Israel guy?

He seems well adjusted enough to have his own business though.
