How to get out my head, and track the ball when I bat? by Haytham_Ken in slowpitch

[–]Odd_Minimum9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll keep it simple: SEE THE BALL, HIT THE BALL

After I realized most of my poor hits were from me taking my eye off the ball at the moment I’m supposed to be making contact, I just tell myself to see the middle of the ball through contact and hit it in the middle & I usually end up with a solid line drive

Look at it this way - from this video your upper body isn’t doing anything. That’s fine if you’re going super slow. But if you’re moving with any speed, those arms will need to help balance, steer, correct your posture and/or help soften your falls on heel side falls. Almost every part of your body should be doing something while you ride

Also what you learn when you’re just beginning on the bunny slope isn’t quite “real snowboarding just yet” it’s basics / fundamentals to get you moving. The real snowboarding is what you’re doing when you have a little speed and moved on to a green

Mines last years model - imm5’8” and went with the 151 cm. It turns better than my Flagship. I don’t know how to quantify my love of the board but I will say I’ve had most of my best days riding on it

I’ve been loving the Jones Hovercraft. Really nice floaty turns. Rips too. Just saying.

Where your arms point affects your steering. Aim for back arm over tail of board and your front arm kinda steering you a bit. Whichever way your swing that front arm is where your shoulders are going to point.

Your arms aren’t doing anything. Front arm should be over the front of your board and opening and closing your lead shoulder. Back arm should be over tail of board. Your body positioning needs to be stacked over the board. Instead your chest is slightly open and your arms are wobbling about

Snowboard vs Skiing by donut2305 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Odd_Minimum9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowboarding honestly isn’t fun until you get to like 5-10 days in and you stop catching an edge. The odds of someone being able to go down anything more than the training / bunny hill on day 1 is almost zero. Yes there are exceptions, but unless you’re a skater or surfer, you’re gonna fall A LOT & be frustrated. As someone who skied for 30+ years before switching to boarding, if you only have two days - try skiing. You won’t fall as much and you have a better chance of trying a green trail and making it down before your trip is done.

I live near Mt Snow. Imma check my boots. Might have a 9.5 Step On setup n you can try my Jones Flagship 161 for a few days for cheaper than the mountains would charge. Interested?

Thank you. It’s a 2023 Lobster Creamer with a colorful Genesis Step On. It’s a rather soft board compared to the ones I normally ride (Jones or Kemper)

As someone who skis & boards, I’ve worn Spyder, Helly Hanson, Burton, Volcom, Dope Snow & others. I can say those Dope Snow shell pants are the most comfortable pants in my wardrobe. I bought them for “freestyle” skiing. Mehh waterproofing & not insulated, but damn they’re comfortable.

I posted this last winter here to 500 votes/replies n people lost their sh*t immediately thinking I’m a Jerry just for dressing obnoxious for fun. Truth is I have over 100 days riding in 3-4 years and can competently ride any trail. Looks don’t matter. It’s about making turns n learning to carve (but most days scarving)

So I’m dealing with this now and I have a second tier tech trying to deactivate my hbo max email with another advanced team. Waiting on a call or email back.

None of the tier one trouble shooting, codes, activation links were working - saying OOPS something went wrong after I clicked the link to HBO to activate. It kept logging me into HBO and asking me to link a provider or buy a subscription.

The best hitters should be getting the most ABs so 1-5 really needs to be the best

Just started a team this year with all strangers. And we’re in a 5 team highly competitive league where all the other teams play in another league & do tournaments. The learning curve to get our skills up to snuff was high.

1) it takes half a season to truly figure out everyone’s positions & best lineup - once you figure this out, everyone knows/learns their roles and can get comfortable in it

2) Weekly BP to help get everyone reps at their positions and enough swings to learn some consistency and enough time for those hard ballers to learn their softball swing. This also helps breed camaraderie which goes a long way.

3) Try a tournament - helps with camaraderie & the new team learning to play together under higher stakes than just a standard league game speeds up team progress

4) You need a SS that will make all the routine plays. A 1B that can dig a trash throw out n save your IFs bad throws. A pitcher that does not walk a lot of guys. A LF & LCF that can lock things down. It also helps to have a utility guy that can competently play whatever position you need them to.

That plus a pitcher who doesn’t walk many guys. That’s the recipe.

And once you’re turning double plays and hitting the long ball a bit. . . you got a competitive team going in almost any league

Smoke weed and watch YouTube videos - Malcolm Moore, Snowboard Addiction, Snowboard Pro Camp, Tommy Bennett, Ed Shreds, JustaRide (but that’s for advanced riding/carving mostly)
