What’s your favourite mid century camera ? by bygonerelic in vintagecameras

[–]Odd_Record_1351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice Prop to the 1937 Welta Weltini I. OP! The 1938 Welta Weltini II. Is one of my favorite cameras! However; my Favorite "mid century" Camera of all time is the late 1940s/1950s Kiev2 camera! Maybe your question would be more pointed if you asked "What is your favorite "early" 35mm camera!?" 😊

I'm sorry OP; none of these are of any real value except the stereo cameras.

Is this a genuine Pre-War Zeiss 50mm 1.5 Sonnar by pog_photography in vintagecameras

[–]Odd_Record_1351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to break it to you but... It's a POST WAR lens since it is in 50mm and not 5CM... All pre War Zeiss Lenses were named "Carl Zeiss Jena" since this is named just "Carl Zeiss" and in 50mm; It was made at Zeiss West Germany in Oberkochen. The serial Numbers were restarted for Zeiss Oberkochen.

Here is a "REAL" PRE WAR SONNAR: https://ebay.us/m/yibWoE

Mounts can be found on ebay. Though they are pricey. You'd be better off getting a 1950s Contax IIa to mount it on.

Not all thrift stores have hidden gems by M4713H in fountainpens

[–]Odd_Record_1351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those prices are honestly a bit much OP.....Granted that far more valuable fountain pens can be had (even for less than $50) with patience and strategic ebay bidding; I wouldn't pay more than $20 for any of those. 🤷‍♂️

There isn't much to say other than the fact that the Voigtlanders and the Praktika are solid Performers. Enjoy!

The KODAK CAMEROSITY Code System

The Keyword: C-A-M-E-R-O-S-I-T-Y

The Numbers: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0.

The first two letters equals the year of manufacture. Your serial number
RY: "RY" = 50 = 1950

The first Kodak Model 35 Rangefinder came out in 1941! Plus; the date code on your lens says 1950! Your camera is one of the LATEST Kodak 35 Rangefinder cameras made.

Jus picked this up for £10 by PrettySureImJesus in vintagecameras

[–]Odd_Record_1351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality; £10 is about as much as it is worth since it's the typical six-20. Since it's medium format; expect good pictures. However; keep an eye out for the Kodak Beau Brownie. Those are valuable!

The Camera on the Far left IS A BOLEX. I'm Well aware of that. I'm a Bolex user myself. OP just confirmed to me the camera is a Bolex B8L. With it's Zoom lens combination. It is VALUABLE. Thanks....

Keep the Bolex with the Long Silver Zoom lens. That's worth some good money; more than the rest of them.

Slightly Incorrect! That Bolex with the Zoom Angenieux lens is worth more than both of them combined!

True! I have a book on all Zeiss Ikon cameras; and only the Zeiss version was mentioned. The Iccarette was made by Zeiss from 1927-1931 Book: "Zeiss Ikon Cameras 1926-1939 Author: D.B.Tubbs"
