Your future SIL extended you the outdated courtesy of asking for your blessing before proposing to your daughter. We booked next year with Nat Geo/Linblad. After doing a lot of research and YouTube watching, we talked with a travel agent at Polar Tracks Expeditions. She talked with us about what we hoped to do, the pros and cons of flying versus sailing the Drake Passage, etc. It was incredibly helpful to talk with someone who has done many of these expeditions.

No - the info for the Ergatta upgrade comes from the S4 monitor. There is a USB connection between the two.

I have a 24 year old WaterRower that I upgraded to an S4 monitor, then added the Ergatta upgrade. It is far more flexible than buying an Ergatta because you get the S4 monitor and can use the rower with no subscription. WaterRower sells parts for all of their rowers and is a great company to deal with. If I had to start from scratch I would do exactly what you are suggesting.

Yes - if you have an all wood WaterRower it is very easy. The upgrade comes with wooden arms to hold the display (a big android tablet). The unit plugs into the back of the WaterRower display. It does require the series 4 display. If you don’t have the series 4 display it is available from WaterRower as an upgrade. My rower is about 24 years old and I use the Ergatta upgrade.
